I also noticed that teachers even in college tried to say active voice was totally better than passive voice, but I felt like it was some kind of cultural indoctrination. In writing, the choice between passive and active voice is a tool to set a mood and control ambiguity. Like anything else it can be overused.

I think that's an American thing, because I've never been taught that one is better than the other.
Though I have been told that second person is the worst thing so there's that.

I put together a PDF today of a novel series I wrote. As no one has downloaded it yet, I feel nothing has yet been accomplished. Still, at least I have not yet lost ground. Yet.

I follow this, though I've fallen behind. I find it easier to just read it in-thread.

I must agree; the phrase "dragon dildo(s)" seems just a little too provocative for this manner of thread. For now, I'll have to ask that posters either refrain from the usage of such language, or come up with a slightly milder substitute to be used in its stead. Perhaps, "synthetic mythical reptile phalli"...

I calmly disagree, and instead posit that the phrase "dragon dildo" has no particularly emotional attachments in language, only on a case-by-case basis with the person reading.
