What is a "master"?
« on: December 13, 2015, 06:59:00 am »

I just got this migrant, and I am unclear on what a "master" is. I can't find anything on the wiki other than the now-obsolete "Dungeon Master". I'm worried that this is a vampire.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Any info would be appreciated.

Probably from a master-apprentice relationship, some artform is a lot more likely than a necro I think.

Ah so this is a dwarf that learned a song or dance form from an expert? Very interesting.

Is it odd that the master has a non-dorf name?

The "master" in question may not be an expert: In my library, my lead scholar has taken on 3 apprentices (one of them human,) despite being merely competent in most knowledge skills (and yes, apprentices will list their master under relationships.)

Look in his inventory:

This is a steel whip.

This is a cow leather thong. It menaces with spikes of iron. It is dyed with silver barb dye.

This is an iron chain.

Or are they not that kind of master. ;-)

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.
