Fate / Lunar Sun
« on: April 04, 2014, 08:14:07 pm »

The following is half-fanfiction, half-forum game, written in the style of and based on Fate / Stay Night, the creative property of Kinoko Nasu, produced by Type-Moon, and translated by Mirror Moon. Despite the (hopefully) grandiose scale of this work, I intend to make no profit or fame off of Nasu's creative property, nor do I pretend to know canon to a greater extent, or even much at all.

That said, I hope that, as a forum, we can have fun doing something great, and I can prove to myself my capability to finish what I start, once and for all. I want to reach at least one ending, a good ending or true ending or neutral ending, before I drop this out of frustration. If I have any hope of being an author....................
..............................................................I need to finish this.

The next few posts are reserved for what will amount to the main menu for Fate / Lunar Sun.

Fate / Lunar Sun

----------------------------------------This is a memory from seven years ago.

There's blood all over the floor.
It's really red and vibrant. Looking at it makes me queasy. The body doesn't help.
I throw up.
That's red too.
How strange.

The girl who used to have the blood is lying on the ground. She looks almost as if she's sleeping. Even as her ribs hold the flesh of her chest back like clinical forcibles.
I don't remember how they got like that.
I don't remember much from before that night.
All I remember was that I was................
….....................................happy.

Yes.
I had done a great thing.
I had purged a soul, and allowed it to go to heaven.
She was full of the original sin.
I throw up again, but this time I smile.
I remember how she thanked me.

I didn't do it unbidden.
She wanted this.
…..................maybe not this in particular.
But to be killed.
She had a demon.
And now it had been exorcised.

All that blood.
All that blood.............................
…........It made me sick and invigorated at the same time.

I pick myself up off the floor.
From the puddle of red and acid green, mixing into brown.

There's blood on my hands. I wash them in the basin with the holy water.
I have to keep myself clean.
I might go crazy.
I might start to kill where it's unbidden.

The holy water is a shade of pink when I leave. White marble overlaid with rose-tinted water, the blood of a sin so great most can't comprehend it, cleansed in a basin of blessed water.
It's kind of poetic.
My hands clean of the              , I go outside.

God is out there, a child yet unborn, floating in a shattered black sun.
“You have done well, my son.” He says to me.
His voice rings of all the sins of the world.
He has told me this is the devils influence, to keep the righteous from doing His will.

I see through the lies the devil has placed before me.
This unborn baby.................
…..........It is pure.
Free of the sins of Adam and Eve.

“I thank you for the privilege, Heavenly Father.”
My voice is cracked from the vomiting inside.
Inside with the body.
Where the body is of that young priestess.
Where I             her.

God recognizes my pain.
He does not speak more to me.
He vanishes, and with it, day returns.
I leave, never looking back at the             .
                                                      body

---------------------------------------------------This is a memory from nine years ago.

“Alex, be good. The Lord will see your fate is successful, if only you do His will.”
Her hand comes down on my head, to ruffle my hair.
It's rough and not very gentle.
She's not used to this.
In fact, this is the first time my mother ever patted my head in my memory.

That day, she left to fight in a war of magi.
A war she never returned from.
In fact, I don't much remember her at all.
But I remember the ritual.
Heavens Feel.

The man next to her nods, blue hair waving in the Irish breeze.
“Be good, kid.”
He is not my father.
He will never be my father.
My father, who art in heaven.
No. That dog got my mother killed.

They went to Japan and never came back.
The McRemitz clan lost someone that day.

And years later, I would go too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------I'm waking up.

“----------------------------------------ng.”
I don't want to wake up.
My body wants to stay asleep.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Five more minutes.
…...........................Please.

Ring. Ring. Ring.
“...........................Shut......up........”
I roll over and press my pillow to my ears to shut it out.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
“....................................................I hate you.”
Ring. Ring. Ring.
….............................................I definitely hate you.

Who put that alarm clock there?
Probably me.
My mind is waking up now too.
“......................................what time is-”
I look at the clock.
“-------------------------------------ng?!”
It's 8 o' clock.
I'm late.

I launch out of bed like a rocket.
Into the bathroom.
No time to shower.
Teeth only.
Body spray.
I'll smell heavily today.

It's my fault.
Who lies in the bed for an hour with the alarm ringing?
I sleep to heavily.
I'm a terrible Magus.

Also, a Magus is someone who casts spells.
Magic is real.
I use it every day.
But part of being a Magus is being respectable.
And that means being at school on time, not looking like you're in a rush.
I've failed.
I'll probably commit seppuku.
Later.
School for now.

I throw on my school uniform and head down the steps, checking my watch as I do so.
Alright, I have time.
Not much, But time.

Unfortunately outside the school I'm accosted by an enemy.
A horrible demon crosses my path, grinning widely like a vicious wolf bearing down on it's prey.
“Ah, Alex. You're later than usual.”
This horrible demon, who is so impolite as to speak so familiar with me, is called Emiya Arturia.
She's my classmate.

“.......................................”
I glare at her.
She doesn't seem to notice, or if she does, she doesn't care.
She knows I have trouble getting up in the morning.
“Alex, if you keep waking up late, you might actually arrive to school at a reasonable time.”

“Emiya-san. I wasn't expecting you to be here.”
Emiya looks perplexed.
“I am always here. What, do I play hooky that often? Or are you mixing me up with my brother?”

Emiya has a twin brother who tends to skip school.
Perhaps tends is the wrong word.
Emiya Kiritsugu skips school as often as normal.
Which is almost never.
But he's late a lot.

“I am not. I simply don't know why you're here so early.”
Emiya smiles.
A flash of danger!
“I was not aware 8:45 was early.”
Damn.
I am, as they say, busted.

“I need to get to class.”
One does not simply defeat Emiya Arturia in a battle of wits.
…..............................She is the best there is.
There is no question.
I push past her and into the school.

It is lunch.
I left my boxed lunch at home.
A school idol like myself shouldn't need to bum food off of others.
However, I've never had the stomach for this schools cafeteria food.
Whoever put beans inside of a bun.....................
….............................Truely, there are great demons with great evils afoot in this eastern country.
Faced with this unsolvable mystery, there is only one option available to me.
I---------------------------------------------------------------

1) I'll eat from the cafeteria.

2)  My club members at the archery range will help me.

-------------------------------------------------------------There's nothing for it. I must eat with the Archery Club.

I sigh in resignation.
What a fool I am.
Even though I am late, I should not have forgotten to bring my lunch. I am a disgrace to myself.
But so God has decreed it be, and who am I to question Him?

I take the stairs down to the ground floor and head out into the courtyard.
The soft heat of late spring carries the scent of flowers on it. The cries of plants to the insects of the world to carry their pollen, to spread their seeds. So it is, and so has it always been. Flowers call the bugs, the bugs make life for the flowers.

The archery range is growing old, but not decrepit.
Indeed, there are more than enough people here.
The Tiger has done her work in this dojo.
This school is a bustling hub for archery.

“Fujimura-sensei?”
My voice is drowned out by many others.
But it is responded to nonetheless.
“Hi hi~! Alex-Chan, good afternoon!”

This bundle of energy is Fujimura-sensei, our amazing layabout of a teacher.
The casual striped shirt and jeans she's wearing contrast with the foreboding guard strapped across her body to ward against broken strings returning with fury, and the other hazards of the archery range.
To be honest, she should be teaching English right now.
But I am glad she's not.
If I'm with Fujimura-sensei, I won't feel as bad about begging for food.
She does it all the time.

“It's good to see you Fujimura-sensei. You don't happen to know if anyone has any extra leftovers? I overslept and forgot my boxed lunch.”
I say it outright and without the burning shame I feel inside.
Fujimura-sensei's feline grin does little to help my embarrassment.

“Alex-Chan forgot her lunch?”
“.....................................................”
My lack of answer is an answer.
I regret coming here! I should have braved the cafeteria!
“Don't worry, Alex-Chan! I'm an expert at these things.”
“---!”
Do not say such things as if they are things to be proud of!

Fujimura-sensei prances over to the back of the room, and I follow her with a considerable lack of vigor.
“Kiri-kun!”
A boy I recognize in the back sighs, and mournfully tosses a piece of meat into his mouth.
Is that catfish?
“...................ggrrrrggrrrrgrgrruuuu.................”
My stomach makes a regrettable noise.

Emiya Kiritsugu is already holding up his boxed lunch, a large affair no doubt cooked by his father.
The meal is already gone, the minute the Tiger came calling.
It is inevitable.
You see, Taiga Fujimura is simply the queen of all mooches.
She is simply the best there is.

“Fuji-nee, you should really grab more food from the house if you are going to eat so much. We have plenty to spare.”
“Ah~! Buuut~, this isn't for me.”
Do not implicate me in this. I have no wish to be here. I only want to eat and leave.
Kiritsugu-kun finally has his eyes drawn to me.
I feel myself start to blush, but I force it down out of will.
“Do you need to eat, Alex-san?”
“............................”

“She does. Now gimme gimme!”
Fujimura-sensei lives up to her name and pounces boldly upon Kiritsugu-kun's unfortunate lunch.
If the world says Fujimura-sensei is forty-five, then the world is mistaken.
This woman is a child.

I gratefully, if reluctantly, accept Kiritsugu-kun's swiped lunch and sit down to eat.
Luckily, Kiritsugu-kun is too kind for his own good.
Strange for someone from a family of magi.

We chat about small inane things until the lunch bells ring.
I am not friends with Kiritsugu-kun.
I am not friends with anyone here.
One day they will all die, when the glory of God washes over this town.
But a small part of me wishes that it was not so.
A small part of me wishes that, at least, Emiya Kiritsugu remains behind.
I wouldn't mind being friends with him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------A dark room.
A circle.
Magical symbols.
Tonight, I will summon him.
My steed, upon which I shall ride to the glory and the birth of God.
For the Unborn Lord has tasked me this.
I will not fail Him.

“Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Filled to bursting, five times, glory of God. Destroyed each time by the glory of God.”
With each word, I drip lambs blood into the reservoirs at the points of the star, written in the ground with silver and steel.
“Let the three forked road from the Crown of Heaven reaching unto the Kingdom of God rotate.”
As I speak, I breathe, filling my body with oxygen.
The longer phrases help a little, the mentions of God's glory filling me with prana.
His work, no doubt.
“Oh steed of the angels, Pagan before the time of Moses, turned in death unto a new calling at the service of God.”
Steed.
Keyword for the summoning. Everything else is for me.
“With this catalyst I call you, by the Holy Grail, by my blood and my family. Hear me!”
I toss the linen into the center of the summoning, a catalyst to summon the strongest of all servants.
In theory.

“I summon you in the name of the God of Abraham! Come forth, Servant Rider!”

Something like a millenniums worth of sunlight fills to room as I raise my arms to the glory of God. In the center is a black shadow, wreathed in gold and sky blue.
“......................................”
This is my servant.
This is servant Rider!
This is the servant that will at last claim the Holy Grail, and together we shall wish forth the coming of the Lord!
To Usher in Revelation!
My heart flutters as he speaks.

“In accordance with the contract and powers that bind me, I have come. Now I ask of you......”
My breath is held as he pauses, seeming to gather himself.

“.........................Are you my master?”

-------------------------------------------------------------------End of prologue

I'm watching my sister do something bad.
Something naughty and scandalous.
Father cherishes that scabbard.
And yet my sister is prying at it with a knife.
At fourteen, my sister and I are about to summon a heroic spirit.

But we need a catalyst, And we need it before school.
Odd that the answer would come from Facebook.
Arturia found the password of our fathers account easy to hack.
Arturia.
I guess he loves his daughter.
More than he loves his son.

My fraternal twin has her hair up in twin tails.
I myself have the same cropped cut as always.
But Arturia likes the twin tails for work things.
Like prying a dusty old scabbard off the wall.
It isn't even an eastern scabbard.
It's for a bastard sword or a long sword, not the slim, graceful designs of the east.
But useful all the same.

Finally the last nail comes loose, and I manage to catch the thing before it strikes the ground with what would be a very loud sound for sure.
Odd, it was hard to see when it was up on the wall, but the sheath has faint cracks running all through it.
It's beautiful.

“It's pretty, isn't it?”
“Yeah.”
I answer emptily.
My mind is captivated by blades.
I like sharp things.

All my life I've been surrounded by swords.
That is the life of Emiya Kiritsugu.
So named after his grandfather by adoption.
And Arturia named for someone from the past we have never been told about.
But I am the only Kiritsugu I will ever know.
And her the only Arturia.

Although,
If this works, we may know an Arthur.
That would be cool.
Arturia comes down the ladder and jumps the last few steps.
It's almost six, and we have to be completing the ritual before Arturia's power wanes with the coming of dawn.

Arturia has all the magical power in this generation.
Mother explained it as a “twin unbalance” once.
If a pair of twins is identical, they will share the power between them.
But if they are fraternal, like me and Arturia, one will hog all the magic circuits, resulting in an imbalance.

I struggle to cast the most basic spells. Arturia is a prodigy.
But in return, I work my body all the harder.
If I cannot be a powerful magus, I will help Arturia become one.
And hopefully make sure she's safe while she does it.
And as she put it..........
…........ “You always have a tank in a RPG, right? You're just as important as I am, just in a different way.”

We take the scabbard down to the cellar.
I'm struck with a bad feeling as Arturia prepares the circle.
“..............................”

Arturia look at me sternly.
“Let me work. Stop grunting.”
Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Five times filled, five times destroyed.
The ritual commences.
Six in the morning.
As our parents wake up.
As the sun appears over the horizon.
At the peak of her powers.
We summon.

At the appropriate point in the ritual, I move to throw in the scabbard.
But something stops me.
There's no turning back here.
There's no taking this back.
…..............................There's no choice now. I-

1) Take the scabbard back upstairs
2) Complete the ritual.

------------------------------------------------------Complete the ritual

---------------------I can't let Arturia down.
I throw the scabbard into the circle.

“..........................!”
There's a massive flash of light!
It's as blinding as the sun...........
…...............No, even more blinding!
A solid stream of a millenium of moonlight.
The Knight in Silver....
…...........She looks at Arturia, and her mouth opens.

“I ask of you. Are you my Master?”

Arturia's mouth gapes like a fish. She's as surprised as I am.
This Knight in Silver.......
….It has to be Saber!
But.....................

“Yes.”
Arturia's voice shakes.
“Then the contract is complete. I am your blade, my Mast-”
Something makes the servants voice catch in her throat.
She steps back, foot scuffing the edge of the circle.

“What is it? Are you servant Saber or not?”
Arturia!
Such rudeness......
That is my sister. She demands to know the identity of the Knight.

“...........................!!!!!!”
The Knight cannot speak.
It as if she is being confronted by a ghost.
Arturia's eyes flash. “Answer me!”

“You......................................................”
The Knight balks. At what?
Surely she is Servant Saber? Surely she knows the rules of the Holy Grail War?
Why is she so shocked?

“..........................Shirou?!”
She mentions my Father.
Now it is Arturia's turn to balk. She stumbles back into a pile of old boxes.
“...............How do you know my Father?!”
The Knight whirls to face me.
Whatever she sees makes her eyes wide as saucers.

The Knight falls to her knees.
“Saber?.....................”
Arturia sounds scared. I am too. Is Saber broken?

“.................................I...................”
Saber speaks from her knees.
“..............................................I must...................”
…....................................Must what?
“........................................I must see your Father..................”

“.......................................”
I cannot comprehend what she means.
There is a block in my brain.
She wishes to meet our Father..........
….....................Does even our servant think us too young to participate?

“.........Why?”
Arturia speaks first.
“..................”
Saber stands up.
And with the liquid speed of moonlight, races through the door.

“..!”
“..!”
Me and Arturia race out after her, but we're too late.
Saber has made contact.
We are doomed.

Aunt Ilya stands, cup of warm tea half raised to her lips, halfway free of the kitchen and into the living room of the house. One eyebrow is cocked at an extreme angle, her red eyes darting between Saber and  the two naughty children behind her. Her chest heaves, the plastic tubes in her nostrils feeding her dying body extra oxygen.
“....................Well.” Says Aunt Ilya.

Ilyasviel Von Einzbern isn't technically our aunt, for lots of reasons.
For one, she's a homunculus. A artificial creation of magic that is essentially like a living magical circuit, a living conduit for magical energy. Aunt Ilya specializes in the most powerful kind of magic, Wish-craft, on top of this.
The downside is that Homunculi must have a flaw. In Aunt Ilya's case, she had a short lifespan, and as such, she began to deteriorate after the Fifth Holy Grail War, shortly before our parents got married. Almost twenty years later, a combination of reinforcement and medical technology keeps her alive, but at a price.
Forever trapped in the body of an eight-year old girl.
Forever feeling the pains of a person twice her age.
Aunt Ilya is cheating death, even as she stares at this new surprise.

“...................................Ilyasviel?”
Saber once again drops to her knees, and reaches out towards Aunt Ilya.
“........SABER-CHAN~!”
You would think her frail form would crumple in Saber's embrace, and yet Aunt Ilya leaps into it, and oddly, Saber hugs her back gently.

“I missed you! Don't go away like that ever again. Bad Saber-Chan!”
“I won't Ilya, I promise.”
Is she............
….................................................crying?

“Unnnnnnnnggghhh.....................................Ilyaaaaa..........”
Father emerges from his room, blinking the sleep from his eyes.
It doesn't take long for him to wake up.

“...............................................................S-saber?”
How does our Father know her?
He didn't..........................

“.....Shirou.”
Saber gently disengages with Ilya.
Arturia and I can only watch.
Saber's gloved hands clasp at her chest, as though holding her heart.
“It's been a while.”

It's a muted sort of reunion.
But I've never seen Father speechless before.
And this Knight, who at her summoning looked so firm........
….....................Is weeping openly, seemingly afraid to step forward, and break the illusion.
And so is our Father.

One step.
Saber seems to almost float.
One step forward.
Before Mother emerges from the same room our Father came from a mere minute ago.

Saber deflates, almost like a balloon.
It seems even the moon gets a little dimmer.
The Servant and the Tohsaka Heiress eye each other.
Each observes the other, as if meeting an old friend, only to find betrayal.
“..Rin?”

Callously, our Mother looks away from the tears streaming down Saber's face.
Emotion is not something that Tohsaka Rin ever allowed to get in her way.
Her gaze moves to the empty hooks on the wall that once held our Catalyst.
Her gaze moves to Saber, who's own eyes are flicking between Father and Mother, desperate for any alternate picture where none can be found.
And finally her gaze moves to us.
We naughty children, dabbling in weapons adults fear to use.
Dabbling in magics master magi fear.
We poor fools.
Her eyes narrow, her jaw clenches, and she fishes her glasses from the breast pocket of her pajamas.

“We need to talk.”

-----------------------------------------------------------Morning of the First Day

We sit around the table, last nights leftovers from dinner taking the place of the usual Japanese breakfast our Father cooks.
He didn't have the will today, it seems.
The table is as silent as death, save for Aunt Ilya's sickly wheezing across from us, and the devilish smile she's wearing while awaiting our punishment.
Punishment that never comes, for all the extra torture that puts us through. Mother lightly sips a glass of tea. Father prods at his food but never raises it to his mouth. Saber remains as inanimate as a statue, her tears long since dried.
And Arturia is determined to get us in further trouble by taking her punishment with her head held high.

“I can't believe this. My own children, summoning a Servant? Did you even listen to the stories you heard, or did you just think it would be cool?”
Mother is giving us a lashing.
For some reason Saber seems to be on the receiving end as well, though I don't understand why.

“Rin...”
Father tries to calm her down, but once Mother gets on one of her streaks there's no stopping her.
“And to think that you would steal from your own parents to do such a thing! Have we taught you no manners? Your Father and I have told you again and again not to touch it, but you just had to be part of this.”

“Rin...................”
“Did you even think about what it meant? You've restarted the Holy Grail War! People, innocent people, Arturia, Are going to die. That's what a war is! People dying! And you started it back up because you wanted a Servant!”

“Rin!”
“What?!”
Mother's fury is turned on Father in an instant. He recoils from her roar, shouted at him with a fury few could hope to match.
Even me and Arturia flinch, and we're seated across the table.

“We destroyed the grail, remember? There can't be another Holy Grail War, because there's no Holy Grail.”
“This is correct.”
Saber finally speaks up from beside Arturia. She looks far less oppressed as she says it, finally at home in a war council.
“We destroyed the Holy Grail almost twenty years ago. And yet here I am. This should not be possible. Without a Holy Grail, there can be no Servants summoned.”

Mother seems calmer, though her teeth are still grinding against each other. Suddenly she smiles chillingly.
“Good point, Saber. Why are you here? I thought you gave up your quest for the Holy Grail.”

Saber shakes her head.
“I did. But it seems I cannot renege on my contract. I must obtain the Holy Grail to become a proper Heroic Spirit, so I still must fight.”

“Hold on a second. Saber isn't a Heroic Spirit? I thought only Heroic Spirits were allowed to be summoned as Servants.”
Arturia asks before I can.

“Saber is a Heroic Spirit, but her situation is a little different.”
Mother explains.
“She's still technically alive, because of a contract she made with the world. In other words, She's an unusual and unique form of Heroic Spirit who is summoned to every opportunity for the Holy Grail since her death.”

Father speaks then.
“Saber, are you getting enough mana this time?”
Saber nods her head.
“..........Arturia............Is a capable magus. I should be able to fight full strength in this war.”
Arturia beams at the compliment, but Father and Mother look only slightly relieved.

“That's good. At least we won't have to worry about anyone as overpowered as Berserker this time, and if we do Saber can fight back without sacrificing her strength.”
My Father makes a reference to a battle I don't know about.

Aunt Ilya looks miffed, however.
“Berserker wasn't overpowered! He was big and strong and gentle. Archer was overpowered. It's not fair having a Servant that uses all the Noble Phantasms!”
Aunt Ilya coughs harshly, drawing concerned looks from everyone else at the table, which she waves off.

“Regardless............”
Aunt Ilya continues after the coughing fit subsides.
“..........Maybe we should take Arturia-chan and Kiri-kun to see the new supervisor.”
She clears her throat.

Saber nods and stands.
“If you have some casual clothes I can borrow, I can escort my Master to the church.”
The church? The old thing on the hill in Shinto?
And what about me?

“I'm going to.”
I declare my intent.

“Kiritsugu. You are not a Master, you have no reason to involve yourself. Please, remain her and allow me to escort my Master.”

“I go where she goes.”
I'm not backing down on this.
I promised to be Arturia's shield, and I will be her shield, even if her sword is a powerful Heroic Spirit.

“Kiritsugu should go too.”
My Father takes my side.
“It's not right to let two girls go somewhere dangerous alone.”
And immediately says something stupid.
That's Emiya Shirou.
His heart is three times bigger than his brain.

“Shirou, are you still trying to keep me out of the fight?”
Saber seems to have experience with my Father, and is on first-name terms with him as well.
It would explain why the scabbard was on the wall, at least.

Father shakes his head.
“Saber, I just want my daughter to be safe.”

“She is with me.”

“I want her to be more safe. Kiritsugu can help. He's good in a fight.”
Father turns to me.
I nod and agree with him. I'm not on par with anything that leaks magic energy like Saber does, but I might be able to hold it away from Arturia for long enough.

Saber huffs, an oddly childish gesture that makes it clear how young she is.
It strikes me that I don't know her real identity. We had guess it would be King Arthur, based on what we could see, but Saber is a girl.
I put the question to the back of my mind and work on the problem at hand.

“I will be able to protect my Master better if there are no distractions.”

Mother shakes her head.
“She's right, Shirou. If there's too large of a group, it might attract attention.

“But there's something to be said for an army.”
Aunt Ilya grins deviously, her index finger childishly resting on her jaw.

She's suggesting we all go together, I realize. It's a crazy plan – there's no possible way for a Master worth their salt to miss such a large group headed to the supervisor for the Holy Grail War.
And yet, it might just be crazy enough to work.
Mother, Aunt Ilya, and Arturia are all powerful magi for their ages. Beyond which, Father, Saber and I are all decent fighters in our own right.
Any Master would be mad to attack a group like that. With the magecraft Mother possesses one could almost see her as Servant Caster herself. Not to mention Aunt Ilyasviel being a walking Magic Circuit and Arturia's Origin in Order Magic.

There's only one reasonable answer to this.
I put my support -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) It should be me and Arturia.
2) It should be everyone.

As someone whose interest in the nasuverse was recently re-sparked (and nearly ruined by some ugly argument on the wiki on the merits of Judas as a servant. Let's just say that Nasu fans can be dogmatic, to say the least.), I am pleased to see this and will probably give this a more thorough reading over in the morning (Faaar too tired to make any decisions or understand all that at this time of night). One thing though, while I'm here, whiny, and somewhat concious:

ABILITIES:
   Riding: A++
Defines the summary riding skill of this servant. This servant is capable of riding up to and including phantasmal beasts such as dragons and unicorns.

I really hate to be the kind who nitpicks over tiny little details or obsesses over canon, as I'm certainly the type willing to overlook the 'Hassan Rule' (if a proposed assassin seems good enough), or the specific rules of magecraft and the like (when they confuse me, which is often), but the Wiki says that the Riding Skill [regarding the types of things that fall under Riding]:"... even Divine Beasts. Dragons are the only exception, as the ability to ride them falls under a different skill. "

In all fairness, the skill is never elaborated on, so I suppose A++ Riding counts as a stand-in of sorts for the unique skill?

Now that that minor and irrelevant detail has been brought up, I'm going to get some shut-eye and get a clearer look at this in the morning.

OK, having read this now, I'll restrain my desire to gush and just say that I loved it. The new characters are interesting, the old ones are in character, and the narration is absolutely great.

As for the choices, as awesome as [2] sounds, I'll be voting for [1].

As fun as 2 could be, my gut says 1 is the better choice.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.
