Finding Kobold Armor
« on: April 06, 2014, 01:25:22 pm »

Basically I have a legendary Kobold Swordsman outsider, fighter, badass etc. but the only equipment I can seem to find that remotely fits him are loincloths. Anyone know any tricks to outfitting your Kobold with armor? I intend to turn him into a necromancer one day and I want him properly kitted out to become a scourge of the land.

Impossible. Kobolds don't make armor, so you can't find one your size.

Level up dodging and blocking cause there's no way to find armour.

You can make some with custom reactions or with DFHack.

Though reactions cannot be added to a game in progress, you can alter existing ones to allow you to make armour, so long as you do not change the reaction's ID.

DFHack has a createitem script that can allow you to create items out of thin air. There is another script called advfort, and it allow you to do fortress mode jobs in adventure mode.

Aren't kobolds the same size as dwarfs and goblins?

Elves, goblins, and dwarves are all the same size. Kobolds are 1/3 their size. Humans are a bit larger than dwarves/goblins/elves.

To be exact, the average body volume for kobolds in DF is 20000 cm3. For dwarves, elves and goblins, 60000 cm3 For humans, 70000 cm3.

I don't think that kobolds can learn necromancy, what with their utterances and all. Necromancy requires you to be a mortal that can both speak and learn.

Though they should still be able to become a werebeast or a vampire.

Are you sure because i read in the wiki they have access to all metals due to a oversight where giving a civilization no metals falls back to them having access to everything. With access to all metals they should be able to make armour.

They can't make any armours. Their permitted clothings don't include armour type clothes such as breastplates or greaves. They only get tunics and loincloths.

I'm not sure how I'll approach a Kobold adventurer when I get back to one eventually (Currently playing a reptile man fortress). I might just mod a civ that is the same size as Kobolds but can produce armor (Amphibian Men ex.), or just fight the traditional Kobold way of dodging everything.

Actually, the traditional kobold way of combat is sneaking behind the opponent, stabbing them once then fleeing in terror as the stab did nothing.

unless it's in the brain, which is instant death because the game hates you.
