Can I somehow resize stockpiles and zones
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:11:46 pm »

Hi all!

Can I somehow resize stockpiles and zones? If yes, how can I do it?

Thanks in advance.

You can make stockpiles smaller by using p > x

It's a dwarf.  Their natural habitat is "trapped on the wrong side of a wall".

Flinging children halfway across the map to land in magma is good, wholesome fun, but extramarital reproduction?  Why, that's just unseemly!

And add new ones if you want.  Or delete the old ones and replace them.

No, I need to make it bigger.

Yes, but in this case dwarves will move all items around this stockpile and you need to choose all animals for the pen again.

Yup.  I keep several dwarves around to do nothing but haul and rehaul.  'Plebs' I call them.  I try to minimize worker hauling jobs, esp in a mature fort.

About 5% of my dorfs are haulers, about 15% haul as part time workers.

If you care to plan ahead you can dig out the intended stock area before its all needed, to save on headache.

There is a dfhack command to copy stockpiles so you don't need to redo the custom stockpile assignments. I believe the hotkey in the starter pack defaults to alt+[p]. You need to be selecting the stockpile for it to work. There isn't such a command for zones, so tough luck there.

The actual command is 'copystock', and any hotkey assignment would need to be set in the dfhack.init file.

IIRC there might be some command at least somewhat related for zones (I'm remembering something which would match the regex /.*grow.+/ I think), but I'm not positive.
