5 forgotten beasts in awe of a door
« on: April 29, 2014, 01:05:29 pm »

I got 5 forgotten beasts standing in awe of one of my doors. I don't know why they aren't breaking the door.
What could make building destroyers unable to destroy a door? I know the door isn't a artifact because my artifact door is made of anamantine not microcline.

where are the beasts in relation to the door?

is the door locked? I read somewhere that FBs can't destroy locked doors.

I'm fairly sure FBs break locked doors.

EDIT: Wiki says: "Building destroyers cannot destroy closed floodgates or locked doors from a ramp leading up to the level of those buildings unless there is an open path to the same level."

I don't think it is a artifact door. I checked and found that I don't have a artifact door made of microcline.

Also have a pic here of what I see there

Ps. got 6 beasts there now.

The forgotten beasts have organized a party at the quartzite door! If you can get around them you could prepare a spot to ambush them.
Fortification + archers?  spikey traps?

I was thinking about maybe doing a controlled cave in on their heads.

edit:

If anyone wants to take a look at it I got my save folder uploaded here

Is the door under the X? The Wiki page about building destroyers mentions that they can't destroy stuff that is diagonally to them. Though, I've never confirmed this myself.

This is the case. I believe your FB's are trying to path to destroy the door, but can't because they are diagonal to it. It is a weird pathing error (these are known to happen). I do not have the bug link, but I have heard of it before. Likewise, I have heard of the locked door can't be destroyed trick, but never knew if it actually worked.

They will sit there until something else catches their attention. What this means, I am not sure. I do not know what will happen if you try to seal them in or if you try to access that cavern somewhere else.

I would just leave that layer be.

Also one thing for me to watch out for is that some if not all of those 6 beasts can fly.

Something I was planing on doing was making a way to let them out onto the surface without letting them into my base. I had a line of about 8 or so doors to slow them down as one path in was blocked and another path opened. the other path would give them a way to the surface. Right now they just don't seem to react if I open or close the way to the surface.

They may be eternally focused on that one door.

Well then it looks like my plan to slow them down with some doors worked far better than I ever thought it could.
