Circle of the Moon Part 7

There are some extremely annoying enemies in the Machine place. But these medusa heads are super easy compared to a lot of other Castlevania games, mostly due to my ability to automatically spin my whip which is hands down the most useful thing ever. Projectiles aren't so bad.

Circle of the Moon Part 10

I get my hands on a lot of HP/MP+ items, and I finally discover the next area after some groping around.

Circle of the Moon Part 11

LOTS of new enemies. And all of them annoying. Were-bears take 3+ hits, were-pumas have an irritating moveset, hunters have a projectile attack that can't be stopped with your whip, bloody swords are everywhere, marionettes curse you and prevent you from using your whip and sub-weapons.

Circle of the Moon Part 13

Now we move on to the Underground Gallery (I think that's what it's called). This place sucks even more because of the spirits that appear in all the vertical areas.

Circle of the Moon Part 14

We kill a boss! Technically it's two bosses, but it's just one fight. I won't spoil it for you, but I thought these guys were pretty cool. :3

Okay, I'm going to try FFTA and if that's better then we might swap Tactics Ogre for it and finish that on my own time. I'll do a preview part for FFTA.

I also got some more new GBA stuff!: Sword of Mana (based on, but nothing like Secret of Mana, which I've never played), Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission (I've never played a Metroid game before), and Yoshi's Island, which is a port of the SNES version WHICH I ADORE.

Well hell. If you've never played a seiken densetsu game, I am contractually obligated to suggest you play it. I mean, I love to Ogre series, but seiken densetsu est. Very different, but still. Sword of Mana (SD1, more or less) is fairly similar to Secret of Mana (SD2), though~

It's just, y'know, the first in the series made prettier. Hard to say which of the first three I like better... I mean, the first is arguably the worst (of them), but while the third is just incredible it's also a bit more sprawling than the second, which is still an incredibly solid experience (especially in multiplayer >_<). Even legend is kickin', though -- absolutely beautiful game, if arguably mechanically weaker than its predecessors. The mana art style is just one of my favorite things ever, to say nothing of the music.

Could always play Secret of Evermore, one of the best Legend of Mana games that isn't legend of mana.

For the longest time I even thought it was a Legend Of Mana / Secret of Mana game.

=_=

I imagine that's the joke, but Secret of Evermore isn't a Secret of Mana game, and Legend, while still good, is arguably the least favored of the series. SD2 & 3 (Secret of Mana 1 & 2, though the latter has never seen an official translation) are the crowns of what's reached the states in one form or another.

SoE is... very much its own thing. While the combat system is fairly similar, that's pretty close to it. Different themes, strongly different mechanics, very different sort of story, only somewhat similar art style. It's still good, but having played the lot of them, it's definitely not something I would associate with the Seiken Densetsu line.

Does anyone else get a bit dizzy watching the jumping in Circle of the Moon?

There we go. Made an edited five minute thing of gameplay for those curious about FFT Advance. I got a little of everything: a story cutscene, the party interface, the shops, and a fight, all condensed. The pacing is much, much better than in Tactics Ogre. The story is very compelling imho, which surprised me since I've heard a lot of hate on it from fans of the original Playstation game.
