Semi-Randomized Civs - POLL!

Hey everyone, here a quick idea I had to make civs more interesting.

The entity file has a CREATURE: tag. I can add the creature that makes up the civ, for example CREATURE:FROST_GIANT for the Frost Giants. But I can add several different creatures, and the civ will take a random one. So FROST_GIANT, HILL_GIANT, MOUNTIAN_GIANT and FIRE_GIANT for example. The giants-civ would be made up from a random creature from this list, but everything else would stay the same.

I could replace the Antmen with a long list of insect-men, and add a random animal-men civ as an easy, early invader. Goblins could get specialisations, like Goblin, Hob-Goblin, Night-Goblins... Or elves can be high-elves, wood-elves, ashlander-elves... I think it would make worlds more interesting, since you never exactly know who will be your enemy/ally.

I repeat again: Only the creature would change. Wood-elves would bring the same gear and materials as high-elves, but they would look slightly different and have different creature stats. One could be better at ranged combat and camouflage, while the other is more melee/magic focused.

So, what do you think? :)

Sounds pretty cool.

Frost Giants would be weird though...Fire Giants would drop Bifrost, or Biflame?

Frost Giant drops depend on the creature. So if you have Fire Giants = No bifrost. I can potentially add other drops.

Sounds great. It'd add variety to the game, so each fort would face slightly different challenges and rewards.

No. Its one random creature per civ, from a list of creatures. So its either only frost giants, only fire giants, only mountain giants, and so on. You do not get mixed civs.

There might be two or three civs using different creatures, so you might have one civ of exclusively wood-elves, and a second civ that is exclusively high-elves, but you dont get one civ with several creatures at the same time.

hehe, im pritty sure you can play a multi racial civ right now, but the primary issue  would be dwarves giving birth to elves or some nonsense.

same way you did warlock graphics?, pike / lasher / stuff, other " useless / hard to train skills" praying, milling. milking, shearing, ect... why are you asking me this... you did it first =)

In that case a goblin can only do a few skills, an elf can only do a few skills, etc.

People would give random births to random creatures, which use ONE child graphic. I got around that but making Warlocks not have children.

the concept, i belive, is shadowrun. humans give birth to humans that "change" into other species, elves dwarves trolls goblins orcs.. ect

children aside, it'd still be an interesting concept. but im happy enough being a warlock for now >:}

The goblinization, yes, that would make sense. But doesnt quite fit into the continuity of DF, and wont fix the issue with graphics :P I'd love to do a Shadowrun mod, but I dont have the time.
