And then there is Imperium-wide civil war.

why would he want to bomb his location?

Killing yourself and 20,000 of your own troops to deny the enemy victory is pretty much the most 40k thing an Imperial Commander can do.

No... Eating 20,000 of your own troops just to make yourself slightly more comfortable and then decorating your palace with their skulls is the most 40k thing an Imperial Commander can do.

Noble Sacrifice is certainly not 40k :P
Noble/Heroic sacrifice is SUPER 40k, I find?

Noble Sacrifice made by someone else on your command without their permission that turns out to be futile and/or backfire is the most 40k thing

Right, sacrifice that is noble, but accomplishes nothing in the end is most 40K.

Yeah, nobly sacrificing someone else in vain is very 40k

I would say the most 40k thing is sacrificing others, despite wishing you did not have to, hating yourself for doing it and hating the galaxy for it being necessary, knowing that to do otherwise would damn the lives of countless more than you are spending and in far worse ways than you can reckon.

Sacrifice et. al is 40k.

Sacrificing yourself for the Emperor/Humanity (Sanguinius, The Emperor, Numeon, John Grammaticus, Every Guardsmen ever...)

Sacrificing worlds/billions in the name of safety.

Sacrificing plebs to the machinery of the Imperium.

Sacrificing Psykers to the Golden Throne.

Sacrificing anyone/everything to the Chaos Gods.

Sacrificing Squiggs to ya belly.

Sacrificing your own biomass for the Hive.

Sacrificing your independence/genitals/coolness to the Greater Good ;)

The lists could go on. Doesn't matter who, what, where or why, giving of yourself for something greater, underscoring your importance despite your insignificance in the grand scheme of things, is the most 40k of all things.

Well that and dakka.

Ol Olly Pious, Guardsman who stood up to Horus (and got flayed alive with a single one of Horus's thoughts). Think pure Mumen rider

Yeah that's pretty 40k too. Bonus points for emo Eldar seer walking through a ruined craftworld pondering over the billions of worlds they're sacrificing to save a few Eldar

It's Heresy era Terran Guardsman uniform. It could be fucking pink for all we know.
I always though he would be in some solid colour, maybe blue or red so yeah, that uniform seems weird.

I think he's in Lavender since he got upgraded from regular guardsman with regular combat fatigues to perpetual with perpetual clothes

Looks way more like Noble's clothing than a line soldier's uniform. (Although I guess shit was pretty fancy during the GC.)

Still. I pictured Oly as a heavyset dude with scars an unlovable mug. That picture looks like husbando material.
