I am late to the party, but I am deeply amused that konami turned all of their vidya game franchises like MGS and Silent Hill into pachinko machines, as pachinko gambling made vastly more money than video game sales without the risk or cost of the vidya game development cycle. I will think of this every time someone argues capitalism is necessary for creativity: a cyber artist forever falling through a pachinko machine

By creativity they mean ever more creative means of fleecing people for wealth.

I'm reading a book on data visualization for college (Storytelling with Data: a Data Visualization Guide for Business Professionals; good stuff), and it mentioned Little Red Riding Hood as an example of a memorable story. Then it mentioned Little Red Riding Hood and the Day Powerpoint Came to Town as an example of how bad presentation can destroy a story.

After committing that book's lessons to my soul, that presentation both hurts me on a personal level, and is the funniest thing I've seen. It's so bad, it's good. Each slide is a new level of "oh no" as the story gets more and more mangled.

Quote from: Ben's Damn Adventure: The Prince Has No Pants, chapter 6
[System Announcement]

[Good morning, my honored residents. Now that most of them have been inducted, I am pleased to announce yet another species has been added to our community, though not for the first time.

Some of your civilizations do have records reaching this far back, but for those who aren't aware, there is a way out of The World, and only one species has ever left.

They're back. The Humans are back, and as is custom, I've put together an event to celebrate! The Humans will likely remember this little holiday from their own homeworld.]

Damnit people, this is why I said to keep the truce. Because now everyone's ganging up on the cats.
Also, don't forget to contact your local Eldritch Being(s), so that they can help with our mission to destroy the universe.

I encountered this arrangement of no-entry signs today:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This has to be some metaphor for life. Also, when I reverse-image-searched this thing, Google thought it was coal tar.

Subtext:

"These entrances are like republican assholes at a gay day parade. Austentatious in their insistence on being one way but ultimately pointless as nobody wants to park there anyway."

It amuses me that under normal circumstances I’d be quite happy about not having to leave my house, but I feel a little antsy on day 3 of 14 in quarantine.

Halloween costume ideas, made by mashing up 2 people. Saint Nick Fury is beautiful, as is Frida Khaled.
