Idea on how to make the 10 point system easier, treat 1-2 as 1 star, 3-4 as 2 star, 5-6 as 3 star, 7-8 as 4 star and 9-10 as 5 star

That's not really the point. Sure, you could do that for your own scores, but the value of scores is the aggregate across many users.

For example, if you review something and say "4/10" then people will see your review and assume that you mean 4/10 compared to typical ratings for the site, not 4/10 compared to other reviews you personally have done. They're not going to go and read all the other reviews you've personally done to "calibrate" for your personal scoring system, they're just going to note "4/10 huh? must mean it totally sucks!"

So, you could personally put "average" at 5/10, and say Star Trek Discovery gets 4/10 since it's slightly below average, but people seeing that will instead just assume you actually mean "Star Trek Discovery is worse than Cory in the House".

As the point of rating things on a public site is to convey information to other users, then your "perfectly calibrated" personal rating has in fact failed to convey useful information. Just rate things compared to where they fit with other user's ratings because it just makes sense to do so.

A taste combination for the exotic meat and cannibal connoisseur.

Ah yes... I remember my time in suburban France fondly, with the children out on the sidewalk and their cardboard Le ManApe stands.

My corona virus schedule amuses me.
1: Wake up
2: Go for run
3: Make lemon meringue pie
4: Write novel
5: Learn Norwegian
6: Learn French

At the very least I'll have come out of this with a rounder education!

Is number 4 a book about a Norwegian-French piebaker and you're researching?

Yes. Don't steal my idea.

....but no. 'Tis a tale of a young scholar who navigates a world of ancient technology and vanished gods. While he struggles with his perceived inability to wield power he seeks out a device which can contact the divine itself.

Or it will be. Hopefully. I only have 11000 words, and I know what I've written already needs extensive editing :P

If it ever gets that far, I'll be sure to make a thread here. Unless that's against forum rules, not sure.

Game devs seem happy to dump games here. Not much different with a book. I'll be happy to read it if I can legally purchase it in my region.

I've been practicing free writing lately - 5 minute bursts of just putting words on a page. I've got too many novel ideas and will likely never finish them. But I'm working on it as well.

Try outlining a structure for the narrative - first, second and third act - and then free write within it? If free writing is your method then at least that way you'll have a loose narrative which can be edited to high heaven until it's a cohesive novel.
