Of course it's satire. Look at the silly alternatives they're proposing when there are alternatives that would be acceptable on race/religion grounds such as just substituting in the correct runes or Hebrew number symbols.

you don’t need to cut down a tree to get the data needed, just take a small chunk that reaches to the center of the tree, I think this is called coring it, the rest of the tree is still there. I will attempt an illustration at what I’m talking about because I suck at explaining things.

Take the core of the tree, a small piece of it that reaches to the center of it and thus contains the xylem that is used for the layers
