Evergreen is the shipping company. The ship itself is the Ever Given. Usually the massive branding isn't the ship name.

A dutch naval salvage team has arrived at the Suez canal. They are not very optimistic.
The ship seems to be lodged pretty firmly in the canal wall and bottom.

They hope that relieving the ship from ballast water and fuel will make it lose enough weight to be pulled free by tugs when high tide comes next monday.

If that fails however, it is going to take weeks, for a joint operation of crane ships to clear the ship from it's 20000 container load, and dredgers to clear the Suez canal.

Estimated costs to the world economy, 400 million dollars per hour.

On both sides of the canal, a naval traffic jam is growing. Both sides have a queue of about 175 ships waiting already.

The Ever Given is one of the world's largest container ships. It is 400m long, weighs over 200000 tons, and extends 16 meters below the water. The Suez canal is 25m deep in the middle, but at the edges where the ship is stuck, it is only 11m -15m deep.
That ship is really stuck lol.

That sounds like a splendid idea! Then the canal will be closed for months, while dredgers and specialized underwater salvage ships clear the bottom of the canal from 20000 steel containers and sharp pieces of shipwreck that can cut open other ships.

EDIT: except ofcourse if you use a large enough nuke, that creats a deep enough crater lake for ships to pass through.

What we need is to lay a series of atom bombs along the entire length of the Suez, simultaneously clearing the blockage and ensuring there's enough space it never happens again.

This will completely ruin Egypt and probably several neighboring countries, but Europe has never really minded that.

Apparently the ship is from a Taiwanese company. Perhaps now is a good time for the world to acknowledge China's claims on Taiwan, so we can sue them for damages. Taiwan can never pay that on it's own.

What of we have several ships go into the canal at full speed and ram the ship free, if that fails just keep throwing ships at it until it works.

So apparently, in the insanity of the Suez canal being blocked, there's a Russian warship somehow masquerading as an oil tanker "Kola" just sitting there among the waiting ships.

I'm pretty sure there's enough among us jokes already so I'll spare you that.

Spoiler: Images! (click to show/hide)

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

Aww, I misread queue as que and thought "Pour que" would be a nice wordplay :(
