Sheeit, 40+ minutes to do realtime 2-week world progression. It's easier to delete and create a whole new world rather then continue the same one.

A new form of migrant filtering system. Build a high wall leading into the fort, every dwarf that doesn't fail the climb checks and gets in. All others plummet to their doom.

I like that idea, though can't they only path up or down one tile before the pathing fails?

Oh god yes. I hadn't decided what I was going to do with the new pathing, hadn't even started a fortress yet, but having a gauntlet to run isolated from the main community to avoid the grief caused by seeing people repeatedly batter themselves to death against the walls and serving the extra purpose of a fortress defense? It is time. Edit: bonus, ramps make falling critters fly off in new directions, so higher drops are possible :D nah, I don't have a sadistic streak *whistles*

This looks more like a bug. If it isn't then don't go near that thing. The lag would be inconceivable.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.
