I think the general consensus right now is to keep IC talking for a bit, until we can figure out what to do, and to let you make a bloody update.

Well at least do an action to get this running along, ask the pirates shit, go with the slaver idea, condem me to hell for my juvenile/objective thoughts that I made up at midnight i don't care, you could at least ask the pirates why they are doing this to get a better idea of what to do.

Well, remember what they said couldn't be a cover, they don't know you are the almighty janitor and heard what they said.
Though you could have misinterpreted it.

The speaker sounds amused.
"I don't know about the future of mankind... but we're humans just as much as you are, and humanity's doing just fine from where we came. What's all the fuss about?"

The speaker seems genuinely curious.
"Sector? Which sector? Where is your ship from?"

"Hm, I don't quite remember... The planet was Orthos Prime, I think."

Original Voice: That ring a bell for any of you folks?
Voice 1: No sir
Voice 2: I had a friend from there!
Original Voice: So we were in the general region...

"Do you mean to say that everyone in the sector was... doomed?"

Roll 17 - Swimming for Everyone!

Grab toolbox, search quickly for glasses, and get out of the water.

[3] You enter the water yourself and move toward the shiny bit you say, realizing that the shiny bit was from the glasses--but the glasses are currently inside the mouth of a small fish. You chase it around the water, briefly disappearing into the depths of the crawlspace (and noting that the water is shallower on one side than the other--and the floor seems to be tilted?) and returning to the opening in the floor, glasses-in-hand. You raise the toolbox over your head and set it down on the floor, then you coerce Philbert into approaching the gap and helping you out.

"Try to break the suction with your fingernail, then flick it off."
Try to find his glasses.

[6] Helping Sophie get back up to floor level, you disregard your own safety and hang somewhat over the edge in order to better leverage your legs' power. However, once she climbs up, your combined weights cause the floor panel to give way entirely, causing both of you to once again plunge into the pool below.

Get a plier from the box and squeeze the thing till it pop

[5] Quickly, you grab some pliers and crush the leech's body with the tips, then pull the limp worm's head out of your skin. The wound it leaves won't heal immediately, due to the chemicals it secretes in order to keep blood from clotting. However, it's probably regurgitated all sorts of nasty stomach contents into the wound. Disgusting.

New Miniquest: Exterminator (Kill pests: 1/3)

Get that panel up. Check the panel if we have any weapons.

As you wait for responses, you take it upon yourself to put the Systems panel back together.

[4-1] Surprisingly, the panel is an easy fix. There seems to be a cable attached to the motherboard but not to one of the hard disks. Just plugging that in, you activate the power. Dust ejects from the fan ports, but the machine starts up properly and boots in seconds.

The Systems panel contains a number of controls. (See below)
