Favourite new features

There are metric shitloads of bugs and such, but there are also some improvements.

One I particularly liked was an improvement of item handling, being able to [P]ut items im holding with my hands in my backpack and [R]emoving them from the backpack to take them on the hands. No more dropping a knife and picking it up again to butcher an animal.

New conversation & stealth systems.
Oh, and the new movement stuff (running, jumping, climbing), that's fun, too.

Sneaking, climbing, tracking.

Most of the others are too broken right now to enjoy.

I really like the new trees.

Also sheathing. Freeing up hands as an adventurer while not dropping weapons is nice.

I'm liking the new big trees more than I was expecting to. They look the part, add quite a bit of depth to the upper z-levels, and birds smack into them.
... I understand some naysayers don't consider that last bit a feature.  :o

I can use trees to climb over streams and rivers now!  Swimming is for chumps.

Although it's pretty cluttery and clunky as of now, I think the new dialogue system is great.

Retirement will be awesome too once it gets some more polish and the crashes get mostly sorted out.

It is terrifying.

Favorite feature? Perhaps stealth. Or perhaps the new sites.

If it didn't have the side effect of causing my dwarfs and animals to run in terror I would consider it a feature. Or if it only caused them to run for like one to three tiles instead of sixteen.

Flying critters should have a tag to determine when their pathing fails and they ram into an obstacle, like BEACH_FREQUENCY

I climbed a tree and kicked a rabbit out of it.

I'm fond of jumping out of trees and grabbing the branches on the bottom to prevent fall damage.
Helped me escape from a few sticky situations.
Did not save me from a tree-climbing Bronze Colossus.

The changes to combat and movement are really fun, though the AI is pretty dumb now with regards to it. I think once bugs (probably arising from personality interfering with combat) are ironed out more, and the combat AI is polished, the combat will be fun in its own right, even moreso than just the bloody descriptions! I think the changes to hostility and relationships between people and entities are my favorite, so if someone spits on me I can punch him in the face and walk away.

My favorite silly feature is being able to jump into other creatures and send them skidding if they don't dodge. You can combo them onto the ground!
