Yea, ghosts do various weird things like manning ballistas or reporting crimes. It's a feature until proven a bug.

Why can't they be witnesses?

How old are those reports? If he first reported crime and then died and became a ghost his name would be updated in police reports accordingly.

Well current date in the fort is 8th Opal, 254. I think he reported it after he died but not positive. Last disorderly is reported 17th Felsite, 254.

Why can't they be witnesses?

Yeah this seems reasonable. If people came back as ghosts in the real world they’d probably be able to provide testimony in the justice system.

Given current events, I've altered my profile pic and I'm sorry it took so long to fix. If you find the old one on any of my accounts elsewhere on the internet, let me know by message (along with the specific site) and I'll fix. Can't link the revised avatar for some reason.

How does one "prove" a bug?

The ghosts in Harry Potter are treated like members of the school, and in the books, some of them even tell on students for things.

I for one, welcome our new ghost overlords.

Convict the ghost of the crime, that'll teach it.

And possibly destroy the fortress.
Convicting a cow of a violent crime it didn't commit was the end of one of my fortresses.

How does one "prove" a bug?

You report it on Mantis and see if Toady comes back with a response about it not being a bug.

And how did convicting the cow kill the fortress? Crash, or Spiral?

Clearly, they were Indian dwarves, and didn't appreciate the wrongful accusation of their holy animal.

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

I'm not your average Bay12er. I care about my drunken midgets.

Spiral.
Went from everybody happy to half the fort at 0 due to making a mockery of justice or something like that.
