Update on Tree Growth

Footkerchief, I believe this is a different, additional problem. Saplings are growing and punching through ceilings in 40.04 only, whereas the collapse issues have been persistent. This has nothing to do with mining, roots, branches, or rocks falling. There is no collapse announcement. There is just suddenly a tree in my hospital and the hospital now has a 6 tile diameter skylight without warning.

Started a new world in 40.04 and the underground trees are punching through my fort everywhere by Autumn, so it's NOT a save compatibility issue as I first thought. I really doubt this is intended behavior, because there's no way to stop it from happening before they grow and break the surface. You can't pluck them before they grow, so an underground pasture is out of the question.

Report is here.

Right, I had edited my first post explaining the report wasn't up before I wrote anything. And the link you gave was only for collapsing tree issues, so I thought I should clarify.

Trees should be a bit more respectful of floors.

And dirt ceilings, I hope? Thanks Toady! Looking forward to next release!

Mister Adams,
How many licks does it take to get to the [candy] center of a Dwarf Fortress?

So I am exited to start playing this new version, however.. I feel a bit intimidated since I have not been playing DF for months.

Trees are also smashing through my glass ceiling, which, while inspirational, is getting a little annoying.

Sigging :P

The bug linked to, which applies to soil floors, was fixed, so yes.

There was a typo in the siegers' campfire code. When the fires went out, so did the game.

EDIT
Whoops, thought you meant a different news link.  :-[

But whatever, it's still yay! And yay to the huge list of awesome new fixes, too!  :)

Is it definitely freezing? It does sit there for quite some time catching the world up to date.

Yes, small or larger with a long history tend to do that. ADVmode takes much longer than Fort mode.

I noticed the same problem.
It's recomendable to let it stay in calender mode for at the least half an hour. The adventure mode calender is really slow.
Go do the dishes or something in the meantime.
If it doesn't show any progress in days after half an hour, you definitely have a bug on your hands. My laptop advanced one day per two minutes on a medium world, pocket worlds are a lot faster.

Anyone else had the problem of getting so many different types of above ground plant seeds that it pushes the bottom ones off the UI menu and you cant see them anymore? Makes managing daylight farms a bugger if you want a little of everything.
