Hi everyone

I'm not sure if I did something wrong on world generation or if this is a bug but my fortress isn't endangered what so ever.
No FUN to be had.
Not a single goblin (even though I embarked right next to a goblin civ), no kobolds, no megabeasts, not even animals wandering in from the edge. I got 1 osprey and 7 ravens since the beginning and it didn't change over 4 years. (A single goat was there but got hunted down).
I broke into all 3 cavern layers and everything I found was a Gorlak and 4 Troglodytes hanging from the wall not even moving. Nothing comes in from the cavern-edges either.

In retrospect it sounds really buggy, but I don't know if I can report it to Mantis since I use the Mayday pack.

Playing MayDay's Pack with 40.04, world got generated with .03
I just used the simple world generator settings. I can't quite remember which settings I used but here are the world parameters from file:

I think the birds are your problem. Birds are buggy. I heard that sometimes they get stuck on the map and prevent any other wildlife from entering. It could very well be that they are blocking goblins and bandits as well.

I am genning worlds for now without creature_bird.txt and creature_bird_new.txt raws

Interesting point. My 7 ravens don't move the slightest...
Deleting birds it is.

Birds are buggy, but they're probably not the only problem. Since the birds won't leave the map, other more challenging wildlife generally can't migrate in. Non-fliers, though, also have trouble leaving the map (like the troglodytes stuck in the cavern, probably because they climbed somewhere and aren't smart enough to path down to leave). You may be able to "scare" them away by sending your military to harass them. 

Goblins are a different issue. I've heard that goblin raiding range is severely restricted, so unless you are within two tiles of a goblin site you may not see them at all (I sure haven't).

Megabeasts and forgotten beasts do show up, though they often spend more time fighting each other and random wildlife than attacking your fortress. Spend some time cranking up your fortress wealth to encourage them to visit.

Well I did with 40.02 embark on a site rather far away from goblins and they harassed me already in summer.
I just generated a new world without the birds and will report back.

In my current game of 40.04 I got two all kobold sieges(actual kobold sieges with one squad of 5 or 6 kobolds) in the first year or two and nothing since.

There are 5 keas in the map, somewhere in the sky still clutching the items they stole, about 15 fish and one forgotten beast locked in a cavern. It has killed several critters down there and kills one every once in a while.

Gonna try to get my marksdwarves to kill those keas though I might have to build some towers to reach them

I'm pretty sure everything with [FLIER] is broken at this point.

Only workaround I see is removing every [FLIER] from the raws. Anyone got an idea how to do that efficiently?

A simple find and replace in all the files. Easy if you have linux or something like Notepad++.

Only workaround I see is removing every [FLIER] from the raws. Anyone got an idea how to do that efficiently?

For the animal men and giant animals you can put in remove tag:flier, since vermin don't cause problems. Though ground animals can still get stuck in trees, but you can chase them away with your military.

In other words, would save scumming allow you to reroll a forgotten beast into another appearance when you get a flier that gets stuck?

In the past DF would decide that the player needs to be attacked and then it would then roll some sort of weighted percentage chance between various possible attackers to determine who or what shows up. So you could get a werewolf one time then reset the game and get a wererhino next time then reset and get goblin ambushers the 3rd try.

Given the sorts of changes that the game has undergone recently, there is a very good chance it no longer works like this.

I removed all [FLIER] tags with Notepad++ as suggested and everything works normal again.

Kobolds are coming, Sieges are coming, no stuck creatures.
Birds obviously only walk on the ground now.

I'm using mayday's so I can't provide a save-file for the bug tracker.
There are several issues related to this but they don't look really well summarized.

Graphics packs shouldn't affect world happenings like invasions or flying creatures being stuck.
