I like grumpy magic turtle :)
Grind for social links with Thon because wainot. Also, attend to Alteri shenanigans. And spread. Spread through the underground and find things.

We still have unknown rock to science, right?

Develop Telescope crystals.
Spoiler: Telescope crystals (click to show/hide)
Place one well behind the Chained on a pillar a little taller than it and point it at the alteri fortress.

Why, ShadowDragon?

We have Palantir Crystals, and I believe we had stuff set up for learning about astronomical stuff and the like. Why would we need to make a telescope for seeing things in mere electromagnetic spectrum from outside their base, when we practically are their base, by this point?

It's to allow us to see stuff in space.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

That's besides the point!

Shadowdragon also has point, though. Space needs looking at. Though maybe not with telescope.

We could just borrow the fort's sensor array, if we found it.

Cycle 82, subcycle 4

As the cycle draws to a close, you ask Outpost Fortress for the wires involved in the sensor array. It quickly points out the ones, and after finding where the system is actually at, physically, you scan the general area above you and cut it off from displaying on screens if its connected to any, followed by the orbital region.

Quote
Atmospheric Scan Results:
- LAF-1: Operational in non-Proxian directions. Scouting data received, stored.
- HAF-1: Returning to refuel. ETA: 2 hours. Out of transmission range for exploration data download.
- AISC-48124: Landed, maintenance in progress.
- Far Proxian Tower (west of base): No active energy signatures currently.

Orbital Scan Results:
- AIS Undeterred Wanderer: In standard orbit.
- Satellite Alpha: In geostationary orbit above base. Integrity nominal, no new messages received.

Long-Range Scan components under maintenance, scan aborted.

After reading through the attached legend and verbose output, you sort out the results: Two aircraft, one proxian signature far to the west, past the town. One shuttlecraft from the Undeterred Wanderer. Then that ship itself, an Explorator-class ship with minimal armament and maximal sensor suite setup. Lastly, one geostationary communications satellite, which explains why they didn't have the range you expected for transmitting down here. The shuttlecraft's com-lines haven't been hidden by the general encryption the base has had for some time, so you use it as a point to find out what the ship is here for.

...Interestingly, this wasn't an expected visit. The ship's hyperlight system is damaged beyond safe use, and they had to stop at the closest alterin base and hope they have the parts available. The ship could be here for quite some time, as a quick, slightly malformed request via the shuttle's com to the fortress network reveals the base does not actually have such parts manufactured, after you discard all the other junk text it threw at you in response.

So, next cycle(s) there is 3 general directions for us to go in:
0. Spend the excess energy, as you're going to be very much overcapacity otherwise. But I'm assuming you guys want to do this regardless of what else we go for.
1. Keep talking to Thon. Find out whatever else he feels like talking about. Maybe find out if he counts as a social link if we have those. Maybe explore the other anomalies too.
2. Hack the fortress network properly, find out more stuff if possible, and generally spy on them more while they have guests. We will need to focus on doing this over non-expansion things to do so due to the encryption, or focus the research regions on it to make up for us being focused elsewhere.
3. Search for where that tower is in relation to us using the new sensors idea that came with reviving this after a few months. Find what sort of Proxians build towers instead of siege gear.

Let us do tower-y things and sciencing-rock-and-other-anomaly-y-things. We must become magic crystal!

Cycle 83
With rather too much in the way of energy, you get over towards some interesting areas. Closer to Thon, to make it easier to talk to him; Closer to that floating anomaly for science, and next to that new and potentially excellent type of rock. Then you fill in the entire area you surrounded previously with refined crystal, which gives you a much more manageable pool of energy to experiment with, roughly 300 thousand or so. The anomaly seems to detect it has a platform under it and lands, only to immediately vanish with a ear-splitting *POOM* that echoes all around the cavern a moment after it touches down on the feeler crystal. Theres a rather tiny but convoluted tangle of energy where the device was a moment ago, which leaves two possibilities: First, it could've self-destructed into that ridiculous sound blast, it certainly would've ruptured something in the noncrystallines if they got hit with it. Alternately, it may have teleported away instead, though in which direction you have no idea. It certainly looked too modern to be a proxian construct, and its too far away from the base to reasonably be alterin. You move on to less mysterious topics.

The new kind of rock here, somewhat more gray than the kind involved near mana structures, is for sure your kind of rock. Its solid, it appears to be more or less rock of only one type without any of the rubbish material you find near dirt, theres even some trace amount of mana near it. You send out a radar pulse in the general direction of the proxian tower while you consider how to begin the experiments on this rock type. You can't just hurl energy at it when theres so much less of these rocks around, can you?

Sometime later, you get the responce back from the pulse: The tower (assuming there aren't other towers between it and you) is right at the very edge of your detection range, roughly 3 palantir sectors of vision range away. Theres also a second proxian town about half as far away, and a large mountain off to the northwest away from either of them. The rest of the things the scan detected you store in one of the data crystals for later, as they weren't particularly interesting at this distance (trees, rocks, underground cave, inhabited cave, fire, etc.)

Poke the unknown rock with a little energy. Maybe drill into some of it mechanically. Seeing as these are sectors, there is probably enough of it for science unless it chain reacts or something, right?

Also, label Thon. Speaking of thon, is that pixel in the center of him colored 'unknown rock type'?

Alsoalso, for expansion purposes, start growing veins over towards tower and town. Lots of exploring, but don't go showing yourself off.

Also, for secondary science purposes, do dimensional science on the mysterious technology area. It may be related to dimensional Darkflyme shenanigans, perhaps.

I kinda thought Thon was distinctive enough already :P
Also no its just a central bit of charged rock, though really I should get a better color than 'Even darker gray'.
