I added in a new enemy type that walks around and is capable of navigating the level (albeit somewhat poorly).  I also gave the enemy a new projectile type, which i've just called blob for now.  It has a high rate of fire and moves quickly, but expires after a short distance.

I also cleaned up the level generation a bit to try to solve an error.  Its a bit of a stop gap until I rework how the levels are built, but it will hopefully stop a particular error from cropping up as often.  I'll put together a build tonight and send it out to everyone who has asked to test it.
