Oh gods soo horrible
« on: July 31, 2014, 03:44:57 pm »

Sooo. I noticed my trader getting drowsy in the trade depot, where she was patiently waiting to see if my duchess, for a change, would not forbid the export of large gems before the caravan leaves.
I accidentally pressed r on the trade depot, and the trader immediatly fell asleep on top of the trade depot.

THEN PROCEEDED TO SLEEPWALK. Yes, she walked while still flashing Z.
She took the ramp down, where my weapon trap loaded with a masterpiece steel short sword and 2 masterpiece steel giant axeblades cut off her leg clean, triggered by her moving over it in sleeping state.

Moral of the story: sleepwalking is dangerous.

edit: I doubt the doctors can save her: http://puu.sh/azgW3/aad3a569ba.png

edit2: hahaha it didn't even wake her up. At least we can say she died in her sleep. http://puu.sh/azhcg/fa7bbda0a9.png

edit3 the latter caused the trap keep hitting her. Minced dwarf bits anyone?

She managed to sleepwalk another tile. Into a cage trap. I now have a mutilated dwarf corpse in a cage. No burial for you Gimp. Just a slab, once you're missing long enough to be declared dead.
.
Not sure whether to dump the cage in magma, or build it as a gruesome display, next to the trade depot, to remind my dwarves not to sleep on the job.

Alas the world of Dwarf Fortress is too dangerous for such flippant movements. At least now she will sleep, FOREVER!

Ah, this is good at least. You can get a dwarf corpse out of a cage by sending the cage to the trade depot. So, burial after all.

I lost my first Broker to this in my current fort. I wasn't aware there would stay on duty until exhuasted, because I am a newbie. I didn't have any hospital at the time either, so I got to learn how to build one and watch all my dwarves do anything but set it up. CMD would do anything but diagnose/treat the victim. Oh well, live and learn, till you lose and learn.

Sleepwalking is new to 0.40 and not well understood yet.  We don't even know whether it's a bug or a feature yet.  So, it's not just you.

Made sure the next broker falling asleep on the depot will meet cage traps BEFORE weapon traps. Should be a lot less painful.

hey can dwarves still bleed out inside a cage?
(on that note can they get infections either?)

Yes, and unknown (to me at least).
