I remember an old bug or something about this..
I created a new world and embarked on a very hot moderately evil place
I'm 2 years in and only 1 child.

I think it came with a migrant wave.
I've had 7 waves, and only 1 kid show up and noone has given birth.

What's going on??

Probably you keep them too busy to socialize.
I know it happens to me on these high-risk embarks.
I'm so stressed that I keep everyone working 24/7 until I have everything built and setup.
I even usually design the meeting hall and berooms last.

You may also have setup you child cap at 0. I know I did it once after a 10 adults - 50  childs fort...

I never changed the cap, and while they were initially busy I'm up to 66 dwarves, lots of idlers at this point.

Are you complaining!? I've currently got 50 children, and I swear to god the moment they pop out a kid, they're pregnant again. Those things chew through your booze pretty fast, and are CONSTANTLY organising parties
