Kobold Arena-like summonings of hostile creature to defeat for rewards.
Alchemy makes potions that give permanent boosts to the hermit.
A vampirism transformation that forces you to kill regularily, or die.
A werebeast transformation that is triggered in combat, like Kobold Druids.
AoE explosive/poisonous trap-components and catapult ammo.
Spawn/Summon pets like squirrels, niths, mountain gnomes, pixies.
A custom "cooked-meal" system, which has you prepare real meals. No more "eat one seed, not hungry anymore"
Massive AoE spell like fire-rain or evil-clouds as a way to ged rid of too large sieges.
Metal transmutation, alchemy based.
Hardcore mode, without all the boni like nopain, custom bone template, free skills, etc.

I really the love the idea of hermit mode, just a few thoughts, and please correct me if it's already there and I'm just missing it:

1) Must have an ore processor.  Majority of the reactions require pure ore, and all the slag from using impure stuff gets overwhelming in solo mode
2) Must have a way to keep armor on my hermit.  As it is, he runs after something to kill it, and the moment it dies he drops all of his armor.

The rest of the stuff would be nice, but until these are addressed, hermit mode is broken for my style of play.

This is my favorite mod (masterwork) for any game ever.  As my first post, I feel compelled to say that.

Edit: Ok, I'm a bit slow.  The anvil can be made at smelter with 3 bars, and bags come from the original clothier/leather shops - not the new 2x2 ones.  That fixes 2 of my 4 problems.

The armor thing may have to do with his labors (since until bob appears any digging and woodcutting need to be done by the hermit, which causes a uniform conflict.)

How do I get the Hermit to put food in barrels? He will not do it, despite the fact that there are available barrels.

Actually, he needed a furniture stockpile. That got him working.

Yeah, the hermit had only the first release and one patch. The ore processor I overlooked -.-

But otherwise I'm not sure what else I'd change on hermit made.

Hermit mode is a fun little distraction, for all of us that read the story of Urist years ago.

It doesn't stand for a full blown mode for me, and I modded out the "magic" stone thing because I enjoy the day to day operations much more than the combat that ensues.

Also, time on 1/8 with hermit mode makes it a bit less painful, when you don't plan everything carefully, it let you have free time to store things and such.

Its quite hard to make it a "full blown mode", if you only have one person.

What else could I add for the hermit? I thought about some journal that lets you write down your thoughts (pre-sets, to tell a story) but that would be one single story I'd invent... people would do it once, and never again. I cant do procedually generated stories.

I could certainly do different races of hermits, but I dont know about any end-game for him.
