Becoming a necromancer slows me down?

After raiding and defeating a necro tower, and I was wonder why, after reading he book to gain the power for necromancy, why it slows me down? Any suggestions?

Because this book is heavy?
It seems, all generated necromancer secrets are almost equal.
And they are:

It slows raised zombies, not necromancers. Some secrets slows zombies to 60%, some slows to 20%. Some does not reduce speed.

After a while your max speed would drop to some fraction of what it was pre necromancy, though I have no idea if it still exists with the combat move speed split...
