Idle dorfs don't want to dump stuff
« on: August 14, 2014, 10:05:39 am »

So, I was trying my hand a some basic quantum storage. Only none of my dwarves want to move anything I've marked to be dumped. I've checked that it is possible to go to the dump site, and the dwarves do all have all hauling labors enabled. Any idea what's up?

You didnt explicitly mention so I thought to ask, did you designate a zone for dumping? ( i , d ) [If i recall]

also I'm not sure if it matters but is the item forbidden?

Yes I did, and no I didn't. :P

Oh well, I suppose I should upload a save and possibly make a bug report. They always turn out to be duplicates when I do that, though.

[EDIT] Ah, yeah, there it is.

Yeah, it seems like the higher a labor is on the list the more eager they are to do it -- designate mining or engraving to get any dorf that can do it to run in right away, but ask them to link a mechanism or pull a lever, you never know.

Perhaps relevant:

  • rders / refuse / dwarves ignore refuse outside is defaulted as active. Such items won't be dumped till that is changed.
