Since when can night troll use projectile?

A possible explanation: Asmur was killed by a bandit, who later got kidnapped by a night troll.

That's exactly what happened. DF doesn't really have the ability to differentiate historical figures from their past to current state. That's why engravings depicting a historical dwarf will magically change when that dwarf comes back as a ghost.
