Well, what can I say other than that I love everything that this is?

Today's episode is up!  Interestingly, Cross Quantum manages to be a Tumblr-style social justice warrior, even though Boatmurdered happened just before Tumblr came into being.  Perhaps they managed some sort of... Quantum Leap?

So next episode is the start of thread two, and I think I need a little input.  I'm not sure what to do with the *extremely* short (and non-canonical) rule of Major Failure.  It's just long enough that reading it would make the episode overlong, but not long enough to make a sort of 'episode 10.5' out of.  But skipping it doesn't feel quite right either.

Any ideas?

Today's episode is up! I hereby dub this episode the 'Drageuth has a horrible fake british accent' episode.

We're in the home stretch now!  Thread two is *tiny* compared to the first one.

Next episode is the second rule of Sankis

This is good stuff :D Also, somewhat off-topic (37% off-topic): Early on during Boatmurdered's twisted Baby Elephant Dance what exactly was causing the river flooding over the bridge (and washing dwarves away)?? I'm suffering some confusion, since all I've ever really witnessed have been stationary rivers :>

I'm not 100% sure, but I think seasonal floods were a feature in the early, 2d editions of dwarf fortress.  They got taken out in .40d, or maybe even earlier.  Way before I started playing, in any case.

From what I understand, they were unpredictable, and they would force your dwarves to fall into the river and drown if they were too close when the floods came.

The 2d edition -also- seemed to have some sort of system for calculating collapse from the ceiling not being properly supported; if you carved out too much rock without leaving or constructing supports, it would cause cave-ins.

Game's changed a lot, eh?

Seasonal floods were indeed a thing back then, as were cave-ins if you mined out any 7x7 area without inserting supports. There was also no such thing as liquid level - actual floods from the river and magma flow (triggered using floodgates) simply expanded infinitely at a fixed speed (with magma expanding more slowly than water).

If you've never played the old 2D versions, you should give it a try, though you'll definitely want to apply a number of patches to get rid of most of the annoying bugs from back then (some of which Toady just recently fixed in 0.40.xx) as well as potentially allow you to use DFHack for a number of user interface improvements (melt/chasm items from outside the stocks screen, sort items when building stuff, and make wood/glass trap components).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Today's episode is up!

Despite being one of Boatmurdered's more famous residents, Sankis is actually kind of a boring ruler.  They mostly tell their story through screenshots; so many that I actually had to skip a fair deal to keep the video smoothly synced to the sparse narration.

It doesn't help that the fort's going through a period of relative peace, despite or even *because* of the extensive use of Project: Fuck The World.

Tomorrow's ruler is Doctor Zero.  Thank you all for listening :)

Today's episode is up!

I'm trying a new sound setup, let me know how it sounds.

I'm sorry today's episode came out so late, I couldn't sleep last night.  Between waking up late and Doc Zero taking SEVENTEEN MINUTES OF READING TO GET THROUGH FREAKIN SPRING, I had a hard time getting this one out early.  I think I managed a quality reading though.

There are only two years left.  Next episode is the second rule of Mariguana.

Episode is up!

Sorry for missing a day there.  Had a bit of an adventure in real life.  Tequila was involved.

Next episode is the finale!
