body part butchering
« on: September 02, 2014, 06:23:16 am »

I just noticed that over all the 22 years my fort lives, I never designated a refuse pile to accept body parts. I just did, causing a mass clearout of butcher shops' cartilage, but also some camel legs and various other severed extremeties were hauled to it.
I then noticed a butcher grab a camel left rear leg, and butcher it at the butcher's workshop.
I never knew butchers could do that, thought they only took whole corpses.

It produced a "two humped camel left rear leg hair", and 2 idem bones. No meat on those legs apparently.

Yes butchers can use body parts, depending on how big the body part and animal are you will get different amounts of meat, hair, bone etc.

I wouldn't expect any after up to 22 years.

Giant badgers are cruel saddistic balls of fur and hate. Did anyone know they could paint a wall with a single dwarven baby?.... You know what, I made the Giant badgers sound like sane DF players.

Butchering seems pretty hit or miss on my fortresses, sometimes they just decide animal corpses and body parts should be left to rot instead of butchered...
