And they're both older than 18, and so can be proper soldiers. Having super robots in a game does not automatically make 14 year olds eligible to fight in the military.

You do realise that even being able to pilot a mecha would make someone eligible? It's not exactly an easy skill to learn you know.

Err... No it doesn't. You also have things like emotional maturity to worry about. And the fact that the war hasn't gotten desperate enough to use child soldiers yet. Just because you can pilot a mech doesn't mean that the military will ignore your age.

No. I'm simply saying that having a 14 year old pilot a mech is a stupid idea and should never happen. Bump his age up to 18 at least and it'll be fine. Having such a young character fight in a more 'serious' mecha game like this just doesn't fit. Or at least not with such a weak backstory/explanation about why he is with us.

No, you are not. 18 is the border of plausibility. 16 is definitely not. Especially not for a squadron piloting the first giant robots used in warfare. You don't give children sensitive and experimental military technology to use like that.
