((How did Xaver get 2 if he only had 1 and then people got stolen?))

Call the traveler a liar. Poke holes in his stories by telling my own tales about those places, when I visited them.

((Sweet. Time to get filthy rich!))

Time to deliver the zinger.

"Would you dear adventurers like to learn what happened to the boy and his maiden? Come closer, closer, one and all!

The boy, he grew to be a chivalrous knight!
He battled witches and ogres and undead wights,
But his battle 'gainst evil held no end in sight,
It seemed he would fight for all of his life.

Each night he'd come home to his maid in bed,
His thoughts drifted to that cave where he and she were wed.
He'd have nightmares of the dragon, but his wife always said:
'Remember, remember, Azanoth is dead.'

The knight could bear it no longer, one night he took off.
A cloak he donned and the sword he doffed.
The knight's plate was hard, but traveler's garb was soft.
Monsters he'd fight less, tall-tales he'd tell oft.

Wherever, wherever that knight could be,
Looks can deceive, but the soul can see.
Not burdened by demons or dragons, he's finally free!
Can any of you guess, who is he?"

I wish I could unwatch a thread because every time I look at this I can feel myself dying faster
Dying of laughter?
Dying of pure unbridled hatred, actually.

Continue to tell the story of Arend. Try to drag a few listeners away from the big group.

"One day, Arend was hunting for bandits out in the wild, on his best horse, when three men from the village stepped out from behind a bush. They were holding crossbows, and, as Arend turned to face them, they fired. He quickly dove off his horse, and hid in a nearby ditch. Two of the crossbow bolts flew through the bush, but one of them caught the horse in the neck. The three men reloaded their crossbows, executed the horse, and went hunting for Arend."

Pause for effect...

"Arend quickly scrambled into the bush, and drew his sword. The three crossbow men drew long knives, and walked slowly into the bush. As the closest one stepped up to the tree Arend was hiding behind, Arend stepped out, quickly slashing downwards. He chopped off the bandit's sword arm, and the bandit, clutching his stump, fell to the ground."

"The second bandit turned towards Arend, and Arend reached down, grabbing the dead man's knife. As the bandit ran towards him, Arend threw the knife at the bandit, catching him straight in the heart. The man clawed at the knife's hilt, and slumped against a nearby tree."

"The final bandit watched Arend carefully, and they began to circle. The two of them prodded at each other, testing the others weaknesses, and the bandit moved in to attack. Arend batted the blows away with his sword, and, when the man attacked particularly strongly, Arend directed the knife into a nearby tree. As the bandit tried to pull out his knife, Arend effortlessly decapitated him. Then, Arend decided to look through the man's pockets, and found a note, from the local lord, asking for his head. Enraged, he cleaned his blade, and headed for the closest village, note in hand."
