I honestly wish blood barrels were used for anything instead of nothing, but this makes sense to me (I mean, if it works on Buffy the Vampire Slayer it's corny enough for Dwarf Fortress, right?).

I would have difficulty imagining dwarves willing harvesting blood just for a vampire.  Since vamps are abhorrent, it makes sense dwarves wouldnt aide them.

Picture Toady's ai dwarves harvesting wild animal blood into barrels, keeping it in one room, and then sprinkling it into a vampire pit every now and then.  Then when the gobbos come pull a lever to release the vamps.
