Mediawiki update
« on: October 07, 2014, 03:44:57 pm »

We are currently in the process of updating the wiki to Mediawiki 1.23 (and possibly switching over to a new database as well). Since the wiki may be temporarily unavailable or locked during this process, this thread is where we'll post updates and discuss the migration.

Current status:
  • One of the wiki's servers is currently being tested with Mediawiki 1.23. As long as you access "dwarffortresswiki.org" directly, as opposed to accessing individual nodes (e.g. "dfweb1.dwarffortresswiki.org"), this shouldn't affect you. Please make all edits to pages on dwarffortresswiki.org to avoid losing them when the remaining servers are updated.
  • WikiEditor (the extension that provides the editing toolbar) is experiencing problems (possibly a cache issue).

There was a typo in the siegers' campfire code. When the fires went out, so did the game.

I'm investigating problems with WikiEditor, which has only been working intermittently since the test server was upgraded.

The issue is still there, many images are not available, such as the one on the Minecarts page or the page on Computing.

That's a different issue that showed up yesterday. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it appears that dfweb3 can't locate any images.

Maybe it's the same kind of issue that happened a long time ago when the files were present on the server, but could not be accessed because the upload entry was not present. This was fixed by running a serverside bot that recovered those files. Maybe trying that again will fix this?

The issue was that one server was unable to access the shared filesystem used to store images. This should be fixed now.

WikiEditor is now working on the 1.23 test server, so hopefully it'll work once we upgrade the rest of the servers to 1.23 as well.

The only things remaining to test are the Adsense and Google Analytics extensions. The test server is experiencing trouble, but it doesn't seem to be related to the Mediawiki upgrade, so hopefully we'll get around to upgrading the actual servers soon.
