Bay 12 on Youtube (Mega-channel online)
« on: October 09, 2014, 05:41:15 pm »

Welcome to the Bay 12 Community Youtube Channel thread.  This is where we discuss what is being uploaded to the Mega-channel, and news of progress of series you are creating.  You can upload whatever you desire to your channels as long as it doesn't break Youtube guidelines, or draw flak in the direction of the rest of the community.

The original videos on the mega-channel are more limited than what goes on individual forumites pages.  There would be playlists of various things forumites have done, but the original content upon the channel is more limited (see list below).

Here's a link to the mega-channel:

I have a feeling that wouldn't end well.

It might work better as a Youtube "group" instead of a channel. I dunno. I like the idea tho'.

Group +1. Sounds like a pretty cool idea, though.

Maybe we all make separate channels but link to each other?

Should I move this somewhere else?  I originally though of here so that it would get attention, but this seems to be unfitting for the board.

I have no idea. :D

I found something...from 4 years ago.  Interface has changed, so that one's useless.

Yeah, this might be more fit for Creative Projects. I barely ever upload videos of anything, but I might contribute to this.

I wouldn't mind having my Youtube channel in some sort of group with other Bay12ers, if we can find a way to do it.

This would work more effectively than having one youtube channel just for the entire site. I may link my channel to this if it becomes a thing.

Isn't there a "featured channels" section on the channel page? We could probably use that.

And I'll probably hop on the bandwagon at some point and start making my own videos.

It appears that the ability to create groups was removed.

However, the linking channels idea gave me a thought.  What if we have individuals upload their stuff to their own channel and a 'super' channel.  The latter would be a compilation of everyone's stuff, but there are links to each individual's channels, so that those who only enjoy a specific person can subscribe just to them.

Another option would be to each have our own channels, then create a single channel where we just put playlists and add our videos to the relevant lists? That way we don't have to upload twice (some of us don't have access to fast internet). : )

It's a better idea than uploading twice, but then who controls the channel?
