Minor Giant Gargoyle bug
« on: October 16, 2014, 05:41:45 pm »

Apologies if this should be posted elsewhere, but I don't see a general bug reporting thread, so.

It looks like butchered giant gargoyles are meant to drop a stone which can be used in crafting, as one of the products I got from butchering them was a "Giant Gargoyle gabbro."  It's not actually usable in stone reactions, though.  Can't make mechanisms or anything else rock-based from it.

Pretty sure that this is a gizzard-stoneesque thing and its a cut gabbro gemmy thing.

Hm.  It doesn't appear on the list of gems I can cut at the jeweler's workshop.

To clarify, it doesn't appear on the list at all.

I would guess that it's a finished item, like for the colosus?

That, or it's a megabeast corpse, and you need the special building to process it.

Probably just unusable rocks then. Butcher a gargoyle? Little useless broken bits of rock. Sort of makes sense.

If it's processable at all, it'll be in the slaughterhouse (or equivalent), but I don't think giant gargoyles are a megabeast. In that case it's just an unusable corpse item. Such corpses aren't so much "meant" to be used in crafting but are a consequence of creating creatures with inorganic materials and simply look like they could be used - and, in the real world, probably would be, but the game isn't built to recognize them as usable.

All of their tissue layers are a tissue made of gabbro, so my bet is actually on it being a piece of their "skin", similar to how butchered ironclad war animals create a little useless cast of iron.

Mm.  Perhaps.  It would be nice if it were usable, though.  I encountered them fairly early in an aquifer swamp, so I was briefly enthused about the prospect of being able to make a mechanism or two.

My first procedural beast was a crystal glass Titan. I was so disappointed when I learned that I couldn't butcher the corpse.
