Changing Names

Is it possible to change the name of a Dwarf? If yes, how and what will happen if I change the surname to the Familymembers? Will the name be taken over?

Children don't take the surnames of their parents anyway.  It's like a more extreme version of the Dwarf wives not taking their husband's names when they get married.

That said, you can give your Dwarves nicknames within the vanilla UI (or Dwarf Therapist).  It might be possible to change the real name through DFHack, but as I said it won't be inherited.
