NS: let's go up, even if we don't plan on going all the way up, pocketing some of those plants might be a great boon later on.
SS: Well, the sword is pretty cool, and at the very least the navigational equipment is nice, perhaps we could even take a map, just for reading purposes.
What i'm saying is pack Rat it like nothing you've ever seen before, see if we could get the sword, compass, perhaps the star-chart, for interests sake, the dwarven mechanical device, certainly, check out that helmet, too.

Hmm, I wonder if we could make some kind of makeshift gas mask by using a skull or bones as well as reanimated nasal tissue as a filter. It would definitely look bitching though.

You go up the stairs, Finding a patch of some blue stuff, and a green rat, snarling at your very presence, it smells like death warmed over, but then, that really isn't a distracting smell for you considering your profession.

((Damn I was going to suggest the staff.))
NS: Cast near death on the rat. If you get it down take a moment to work on a raw death spell.

You cannot use splintered life on the blue stuff, as it is decidedly living, and definitely not a plant.

You blast the Rat with Near-Death as it pounces, it's filthy disease ridden claws ever so slightly scraping your hand as you slam it's head into the pearly gates, metaphorically speaking. -1 mana, -2 Health, ???.

After shaking off the residual energies, and several clumps of fur, It begins prowling around, strafing back and forth in anticipation of your next move.

You cast Near-Death once again, Knocking the filthy creature firmly unconscious. -1 Mana

Given it's already apparent disease, It will likely be dead soon enough. at which point the Bacteria will be there and waiting to feast on the Death-Mana.

It's beady red eyes do not close. Staring ahead unblinkingly.

SS: Good, now, ask around for anything small that involves questing, rat infestation? Very very small dragons? Stuff like that.
NS: Before we use rejuvenate on it, pour a small amount of Phoenix juice on it, just to test.

You pour a small amount of phoenix juice on it, the Rat lets loose an ungodly squeal of pain as the Fur literally washes right off of it's skin, leaving smooth unblemished pink where it touches.

The fur hisses as though acid is on it, but instead of a burning hair smell, you definitely smell deathly bacteria dying.

It's health wobbles between dead and healthier, like some kind of pendulum. you can physically see it stop breathing for moments and then jolt back awake squealing as the 'fur' sloughs off.

It eventually settles on healthier than it was before, But definitely unconscious. Strips of pink skin stripe along it's body alongside mangy molded fur.

It vomits up a black tar in it's sleep, before closing it's eyes.

You use Rejuvenate on it for the lulz. As the restorative necromancy dances along it, Black and green fur spreads from the areas untouched by phoenix juice, almost amusing in it's hesitance. -1 Mana

The once healthy skin obtains a fine layer of filth  that looks suspiciously similar to it's fur as your rejuvenation spell continues.

You brought no paper, no paper, no Identification Scrolls.

Thought so, if that bacteria used death magic to grow, Phoenix juice would obviously act as a sterilising agent.
Good thing to, as now those fish can be killed, I feel really bad about that rat now though.
Pocket some of that moss stuff, looks useful, then take off to a higher level.
SS: Killing rats, some money, perhaps some clothes from the pelts and they might be somewhat good eating, who knows, let's start looking around for rats, engage combat if we find any.

SS: Ask if being an avatar will actually help you in any way. Like gaining divine power as you gain fame or something.
