Exactly what does it mean when a meeting area is "cold"?
« on: October 22, 2014, 07:44:12 pm »

Apparently it has nothing to do with actual temperatures, so how do I go about fixing this?

The one problem magma can't fix.

Meeting area looks a bit empty, maybe it needs some puppies and dwarven feet to warm it up

Do you have other, better, meeting areas? Or a dining hall meeting area?

I just started a "straight to cavern" embark, and by some twist of luck I managed to dig past all the caverns and hit the magma sea near some candy; so I decided to build on top of it. That's one of two meeting zones, the other one is on the glacial/mountain surface.

It might just be far away from everyone, and so it is "cold" because everyone uses the other one? Try removing the first one to see.

I think meeting zones will not be used if they have a "cold" (or "hot") label and are "outside" - because temperatures are directly endangering in those cases. Underground places with those labels are (usually?) not dangerous - there seems to be some effect, but it's hard to trace; at least water will remain liquid in "cold" underground and creatures don't directly freeze/melt. The warning label just seems to be embark-wide.

That you see such a label at all means you're in a biome where the surface is dangerously cold. Trading can become fun.

Or cats, make a cat carpet.

Then magma.

And then a layer of dwarf babies.

How do you take screenshots like that? I've never gotten ones to work that well.

[Print Screen], ctrl+P into Paint, save and then upload to TinyPic is how I do it. Is that what you meant?

I always just pause the game and then use the snipping tool

Not sure if dying of old age is an honor or a shame for weaponmasters. On the one hand, it means they never got the opportunity to die in glorious battle. On the other hand, it means nothing could beat them in glorious battle.
