Poll locks with 3-2-1 in favor of Shrubland and 4-2-0 in favor of Untamed Wilds.

Will open pit mining be allowed?

I'd be up for a turn, especially a few years in once the complicated rule-based stuff is already somewhat established. I'd screw it up/take too long if I had to set it up.

Though they can't be spammed, are traps allowed? Taming things is always fun/profitable.

Traps require mechanics workshops, which are not listed in the ownable industries.  I suppose they could be shoe-horned in under the stone industry though.

That opens the doors to other kinds of constructions that are not listed though, such as waterwheels and windmills and the like.

I presume that there is a moratorium against devices that make the goblin home invaders into petty nuicances though.  No bottle-A-Goblin instant cagetraps, no atomsmashing bridges, etc. With climbing being a mechanic, I suppose dropping into a 1z deep spike pit is semi acceptable, since a good number will survive and climb out super pissed off, but that needs the game organizer's say in the matter.

if I wasn't sitting behind a tethered cellphone on a weaksauce laptop at the moment (Helping my sister get her house ready before her baby is due) I would want to play, but meh. I will just watch discretely.

Mechanics is currently under stone, if we're playing with open pit mining it should be it's own industry but if we're not then it would consume a notable and be usable maybe once or twice a year.

Poll has been altered and votes have been reset to reflect that. The purpose of "don't pierce the aquifer" to clarify that mining should be totally prohibited but if we want to mine there's no logical reason to be limited to quarrying. When I say subsurface mine I mean a set up sort of like this:

Basically anything set up like a mine and not like a fort. There would still be NO use of subterranean squares except for mine carts and tracks. No storing things in the tunnels no temporary dormitories no workshops.

Poll locks in nine hours.

I'm interested.  Please put me on the overseer list.

Is there a modified Noble position of "Overseer", for clarity?

There is not, normally I would add one then regen but since noble positions are valuable now it would be like adding embark points.

Well, since the previous overseer gets kicked out and replaced by the next overseer, they'd only be a Noble for the space of a year.

Buuuut...I suppose it's not really a necessary position anyways.

Overseers could be the 'foremen' of certain projects - so the 'foreman' of one project would still be around for that project until it was completed, but overlapping projects could have different foremen all working simultaneously.  Obviously, foremen would have to have their own offices...
