can you do that? Because I hate possessions.

dfhack cleanowned ?

Urist McWeaponsmith with no item preferences made an adamantine warhammer.

A few years later Urist McWeaponsmith2 made...an adamantine mace with the image of the warhammer on it. I hate these dwarves so much.

I think it would be awesome to get an  adamantine warhammer or mace. Yeah, it is useless in combat, but I'd love to  give them to the captain of the guard or the hammerer to mete out justice with a feather fist.

yea that's a hammerer weapon right there. Half the time I don't even appoint a hammerer to prevent people from being unjustly hammered at the behest of nobles.

Also, in conjunction with a weapon trap (or one of the display case mods) you can make one very amazing centerpiece for your meeting hall or noble room that dwarves would drool over in appreciation.

Probably my most memorable artifact was when a migrant weaponsmith who just arrived had a mood. I already had a legendary weaponsmith from an earlier mood that made a lead crossbow, but whatever. New mood guy went and grabbed some adamantine and made "CertainTurmoils", the adamantine long sword. At the time that artifact was over triple the worth of the entire fortress. I didn't have much of a military, and no swordsdwarves, and one too many weaponsmiths, so I went and drafted the mooded guy into the military and had him wield his sword.

He and a sparring partner went from no skill at all in swords to total badasses in two years time, and together they killed several forgotten beasts and ~30 goblins each before dying in a huge conflict between my military of 14 legendary dwarves and 7 forgotten beasts, including a coral quadruped webber that singlehandedly destroyed most of my fort before getting its head kicked off by a random farmer.

Ah, memories.

Turns out you can seriously not notice how deep into this shit you went until you get out.

I know, I know. They're useful for anything but their intended purpose.

I'm still tempted to train the little bastards to legendary warriors and send them out against forgotten beasts armed with their artifacts.
