Update:  Since the child was no longer of any use or interest to me, and I didn't feel like infecting my entire fort, I had her drowned so that she could be released from her curse and buried as a dwarf.  I have never felt guilt about killing a character in a game before, but her last thought was "relieved being near to a waterfall." :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I had a dwarf with that as her last thought too. Soon everyone was enjoying the combined well and waterfall. She'd been digging into the aquifer for the kitchen waterfalls. She and her pick (damnit!) are still up there, above the floodgate level, so I can't get them out.

I put the memorial plaque right next to where the water drains away from the central pool, and made a memorial room there for her. It gets visited by a lot of dogs and puppies, for some reason.

You clearly haven't pastured all your dogs. Pets swarming the meeting halls drives me nuts.

WHY WOULD YOU KILL HER!? I WOULD KILL HALF MY DORFS FOR A SINGLE WERE-BEAST FORT MEMBER!  (but not in my current world, dead civ)

YOU HAVE NO RESEPCT FOR DF AND THE FOURMS! NO TRUE DF PLAYER WOULD DO THAT SO SOON WITH SO LITTLE RESON!

(is still rageing after cat lured Cyclops to death because wanted to capture said Cyclops, cat is set for slaughter now)

I love all my fort cats. They make excellent roasts.

I only ever slaughter my cats when my FPS starts to drop. I instead drop them from the top of cavern areas, and have many small tunnels made for it, too.

They serve as excellent FB bait to see their syndromes. Their tallow is nasty, though.

I won't have to murder cats anymore anyway unless food gets tight. Gelding has solved that.

You can even just lock up one gender in their own room. That way it's easy to start breeding again if something unforeseen happens.

cats are no fun if they are not all wandering around, potentially luring FBs into your fort, adopting dwarves on the way to being butchered, etc etc.
