Species* War Now Starting! 4 player competition game

* 'Race War' just sounds wrong.

This is a simple competition idea for FOUR players who can manage a quick turn around. We would be using the All Races Playable mod on a 33x33 world with one civilization each of Dwarf, Elf, Human and Goblin (approximately** equal number of sites for each).

** OK, not very. :P

* Each player gets a race (civilization).
* Each player takes turns to EITHER run a fortress for one game year or run an adventurer for 10 game days.
(Or until they die, whichever happens first.)
* If a civilization has no sites at the start of that player's turn then that player is OUT.
* Last player standing wins.
* No player reclaims of world-gen fortresses
* Alliances, treaties and backstabbing are all allowed and should be agreed between the players.

Turn 1: Goblins
* Civilization: The Parched Seductions (5 active sites)
* Player: Timeless Bob

Turn 2: Dwarves
* Civilization: The Esteemed Clasps  (6 active sites)
* Player: ptb_ptb

Turn 3: Elves
* Civilization: The Obeisant Orange (8 active sites)
* Player: than402

Turn 4: Humans
* Civilization: The Realm of Tours (10 active sites)
* Player: Broseph Stalin

Round 2
Turn 5: Dwarves
* Civilization: The Esteemed Clasps  (6 active sites)
* Player: ptb_ptb

Turn 6: Elves
* Civilization: The Obeisant Orange (10 active sites) +2 from last round
* Player: than402

The human civilization has been eliminated. The goblins are still spreading, but more slowly, and the dwarf player disappeared.

I think alliances, treaties, backstabbing are all fair game. :P So whether you can coexist peacefully depends on the other players.

Will you be modding the goblins and the elves to be mortal as well, or is their immortality part of the 'race package"?

I am interested to see how it turns out.  I imagine a smaller world with small worldgen?  Are the raws default?


Otherwise I cant see ten day ingame adventerures being sufficient either seed a new site or destroy another.

Gobbos it is. Kobolds aren't included in the mod (I think they don't have sites as such). DF 0.40.19 with All Races Playable mod.

It's not my mod. :P I'm just 'stress testing' it.

Yeah, probably the default values for 'smaller region'. I think that's the 33x33 one.

You may be right. We can fine tune that later if needed. However you can keep the same adventurer (if he doesn't die) from one turn to the next, so you should be able to get them to be serious powerhouses.

Anyway, it looks like we have enough to try this sucker out. I've got Dwarves (last one left). I'll do world gen and stuff tomorrow morning. My personal preference is Phoebus' Graphics Set but I think I can switch that to Vanilla ascii tileset if people prefer for their turn.

Not sure if dying of old age is an honor or a shame for weaponmasters. On the one hand, it means they never got the opportunity to die in glorious battle. On the other hand, it means nothing could beat them in glorious battle.
