What i'm trying to do is find a few historical figures from legends in adventure mode, but i'm not getting any luck. I spawned in the city they should be in, and they all came up as people "I've known my entire life" in the Q menu. However it won't let me locate them, and when I ask for directions, they don't appear on the list! This save was on 40.16 so i'm not entirely up to date. Even more annoying is this takes place in a large forest retreat, so searching the map would be next to impossible, excluding the fact that elven architecture (treehouses) is such a pain to look through.

Just for clarification, historical figures can be found in adventure mode, right?

Yep, every historical figure can be found in adventure mode.

You could always take DFhack and use "reveal" -command. After you see everything, it's just matter of time when you find those you're looking for.
