A way to find out what is hurting FPS
« on: December 19, 2014, 02:33:50 am »

Hello, it would be nice to have some profiling-like information about some of the computations (e.g. pathfinding, fluids, job assignments, items...) so we can try to at least mitigate some of the FPS issues.

Posting this after a fort suddenly fell from 20 to 4 FPS for no apparent reason.

I agree here, it would be nice to have some idea on what is causing the lag.

One thing I find that reduces fps a fair bit is weather.  On my 4x4 embark, with a pop of about 120, I average 40-50 fps, but as soon as the weather starts, it can drop to 20.  Try turning weather off and see if that helps.  But i also agree, a way of actually seeing what causes reduction of fps would be nice, instead of having to notice it in the act, like weather.
