There's actually a slight colour difference between loaded and unloaded cagetraps.
At least in my case.

You can see the colour difference. Three are 2 more unloaded ones below the one highlighted. They should stand out as a deeper green.

The problem is that they are already loaded with cages despite its color difference (you can see it from the screenshots).

Pretty sure that means a cage has been selected as "ammo", not that it has been fitted.

Yup, afaik it now shows parts that are reserved for building but not implemented.  Toady has been trying to make micromanagement easier.

If I deconstruct this cage trap it gives me mechanisms and cage.

Then report the bug and give them the save.

I have a lot of empty cages but dwarves don't want to load these cage traps for a long time.

are the cages in a suitable stock pile?  You need an animal stockpile to stock empty cages.

... I know...

All empty cages just laying in the corresponding workshops. All other cage traps were successfully loaded btw.

Don't forget to make an animal stockpile so they have somewhere to put the beasties the cage traps catch...

Yes, but there are currently no animals in the cages at all.

Check the tile with "k". There's probably a contaminant in the tile, which overwrites the cage trap's own colour. E.g. piles of vomit are the colour of unloaded cage traps. (Getting a dwarf to puke on top of a trap was a bit of a production, but yes, it really overwrites.)

BTW the shown cage trap is a properly loaded one. The "t" command only displays items really present in the building; when a cage trap triggers, the cage will be expelled and is no longer listed in the trap "building". "Reserved" cages aren't displayed, either; the cage only shows up in the "t" list once it's been loaded into the trap.
