Mexican Standoff: a Game of Yomi (Round 4, Turn 1)
« on: January 22, 2015, 02:53:27 am »

Yomi (Japanese for "reading"), also known as Wine In Front Of Me by the Mafia players on this forum, is an important concept of game theory, or life in general. It is when you try to defeat your opponent by figuring out what they think you think they think you think etc., and acting accordingly. With just one opponent, it gets complicated. But what if there is more than one?

Mexican Standoff: a Game of Yomi

People tend to disagree on many things in life. Sometimes, these disagreements lead to people dying. This is one of those times.

The rules are simple: each turn, each player sends me a PM with one of the following actions:
  • Shoot a player (Rock): that player is shot, or otherwise attacked, and dies unless they shot themself.
  • Shoot yourself (Paper): any other players that shoot you die. If nobody else shoots you, you die.
  • Shoot the air (Scissors): you definitely won't shoot anyone that shot themself, but you risk being directly shot.
A turn lasts 24 hours, or as long as it takes for every player to send their action.
A player who doesn't send an action in the 24 hours is assumed to shoot the air.
Actions are resolved simultaneously.
Any dead players are removed from the round, while survivors will move onto the next turn.
The round is won by the last player still in the game.
If nobody survives, everybody loses.
I reserve the right to change the rules at any time.

The theme for Round 4 is: Multicultural spies!
A secret meeting of the most secret agencies in the world has gone awry. It has been hinted that one of the spies is actually...a spy! The meeting is still running somewhat smoothly, though many give mistrusting glances between their turns to speak. The tension is rising slowly but surely.

The theme for the next round is: Undecided
Past themes: Dwarf Fortress; Spacemen; Heist.

To sign up, simply post that you want In, with optionally some flavour and a battle cry for your "character". Try to make the flavour fit the concurrent theme.
