it has something to do with the interactions, not the pit design. ask heydude, he's the one that made the reproduction system

question about that, does the infested creature ever turn into a "young Hivemind wasp" or does it simply gain the infested suffix?

It gains it for about a month before the suffix dissapears. maybe have an anouncement when a creature shakes an infestion off.

Ok, good. When I was still making the reproduction system there was this annoying bug where the victim would transform into a young hivemind wasp and then revert back to it's original form, and then transfrom again and then revert again. Glad to know that bug is still squashed.

What's going on at the moment is that the transformation interaction itself isn't triggering, only the syndrome that gives the ability to perform the transformation interaction.

I'll go look through the files and see what's wrong

As far I can see, no major change was done in my absence, right? I never played with the actual build, my last fort was talked into the old thread.
So... any plan about updating this into 40.xx with the newest Masterwork Reborn stuff? I'm asking that since yeah, working on the actual build is cool, but maybe it could feel a little pointless to continue adding stuff, and something like the (actual?) broken larva pit could work in a different way since the new DF version.
Anyway, if there is any update, if you can please update me so I can rejoin the ranks for new working Hives, I will be grateful.

nope, no major changes. some odd bugs here and there, but nothing major. the sprites seem to be moving along, we have a succession/tutorial fort running and apparently the larva pits need some work, but otherwise just fixing and balancing.

I totally agree. Wasps have plenty of features already, and updating should be our first priority. The thing is, like all masterwork races, wasps use lots of scripts. Until these scrips are ported to the new edition, we can't make a hive with even half of its features (most importantly, with a working reproduction system). I could update the raws, but only that.

By the way, here are some things I expect to work differently:

-ranged weapons may or may not need rebalancing
-pits are more dangerous (a wasp trying to pit an enemy may panic and let him escape.)
-the new locations in the adventure mode are looking very interesting. Maybe we can give them something other than detailed caves. I think I read of a way to make them build small shacks in hills
-with the new speed gaits I'll have an easier time buffing up some (currently useless) mutations. Maybe even make a couple of new ones

Anyway, if there is any update, if you can please update me so I can rejoin the ranks for new working Hives, I will be grateful.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, we won't be able to make any major updates in the foreseeable future. The project is perfectly alive, but with none of our scripts working for now I don't see the point in starting an update that will be half-finished at best. If only I knew more about dfhack...

The only thing we can do is call it a full release as soon as the sprites are ready.

However, if you like succession forts, we are currently running a succession/tutorial fort called Spawnedfiles and we're currently looking for overseers. I completed the first year and covered most of the waspen stuff (I even found a couple of possible tweaks and a bug). Here's the thread.

Hey guys, I finally got around to trying to fix the interaction. It looked fine so I just decided to increase the amount of time the wasp has to perform the interaction (originally it only had 4 ticks to try it, now it has 100). I tested it in the arena and it works fine. BTW. Do not keep you prisoner inside a cage or else it won't transform.

Ok now let me make a few recommendations. You probably shouldn't include reaction_masterwork and reaction_masterwork2 in the downloadable file.

The potential problem is that if everyone makes their own changes to those files, there's no version control (other than Meph manually merging everything).  Not a problem when you're doing a beta off an unchanging version of MDF.  There's no "official policy" on what the right practices are.

I could easily put the reactions on a different file. It's very easy to work around that. In fact, I think I'll do that just to be on the safe side.

I have an idea. I have no idea whether or not it's good or bad, so here it is.

when a egg hatches, the larvae should slowly grow into an adult wasp. if they haven't infected something by that time, it will grow to be a worker. If it was given a host then it would grow to be a soldier caste, because it ate better than the workers did. Unfertilised larvae should grow to be drones instead of dying because of having no host. Fertilised larvae given royal jelly (how do you do that BTW) would grow to be a queen if given a host

What do you guys think? should we do a poll? it allows for faster breeding, as well as better population control

Another thing I noticed was that after installing this mod through drag'n drop, all the hermit reactions werent in his workshops. My thoughts are thinking is it possible that the raws here are based off an older MW and overwriting the hermit when i install the mod?
