Applepacked: the food
« on: March 10, 2015, 08:20:35 am »

I present to you what might be the fruitiest dwarven dish I've ever seen: Applepacked, the biting of peaches.

Ingredients include apples, peaches, pears, sand pears and strangely, spinach. Entire stack costs a whooping 22792 dwarfbucks given its mundane ingredients (like Apple products IRL):

How did the chef manage to squeeze so much into bisquits, a food item comprising of only 2 ingredients? is it a bug? If so, how to recreate it?

Just like the Planespacked bug, those ludicrous stacks of prepared foods can be made by fiddling with burrows. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact procedure to do it...

In this case, the dish was made very early in fortress life. There were no defined burrows yet, let alone civilian alert. Did anyone else encounter this?

I posted something similar in the "whats going on" thread. No burrows involved in it either.

My cooks managed to Planepacked a roast... that weighs in at a whopping 722 urists, and is worth 7,629,748 ☼. Which is about 70% of my forts total created wealth (11067181 ☼)

Fruitcake. My god, the dwarves have managed to steal the secret of fruitcake from the heavens.

You must prepare for a siege from the Christmas Elves... and prepare quickly.

Nah, it looks more like chutney or fruit paste to me.

Does anyone have ideas on how to recreate this sort of food? Maybe "give to workshop" restrictions influnced it?

As I recall, it has something to do with the game using entire barrels of food as meal ingredients.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

How would that work ? Forbidding the food inside but not the barrels when a dwarf is on the job of getting the food inside the very barrel to the kitchen ? Dropping barrels in the center tile of the kitchen ?
