Not a bad idea. I might slip this into the Dark Ages, if you have no objections.

Its a really simple tweak so feel free to do whatever you please with it. The only issues with the tweak at the moment though is creating more silk threads in relation to egg size, which i'm sure can only be done via globs, but i'll get round to that in time.

Are the spiders still able to reproduce?

They are indeed.

Seriously, this is a great idea and I'm loving it.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find a way to make size-dependant product, though... I think that stuff's hardcoded.

I managed it, it was fairly easy to do.

Simply added this under the MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:SILK_TEMPLATE;
Code: [Select]
[STOCKPILE_GLOB]
[DO_NOT_CLEAN_GLOB]
[REACTION_CLASS:SILK_EGG]

Then added a new reaction that turned the silk eggs into silk globs, which then feed back into silk thread.

Oh nice! Cool. I love how you fluffed the names, too. This is going in my storyfort whenever I actually finish encoding the words I'm working on... It's such bland, repetitive work that I can't bring myself to work on it most days.

Minor nitpick, that should be spinning silk from the egg sack, not weaving it. Spin to thread, weave to cloth.

Would you mind if I bundled this in as an optional module of the Modest Mod?

Sure no problem, as i said to Rammok it's a really simple tweak so feel free to do as you please. I was surprised no one had done it yet to be honest.

Hey, I too like the idea. I currently use silk moths in my mod for the same purpose, but with beekeeping being so buggy; and the fact that players cant determine which hives are harvested...

Your solution is much cleaner. :) I'd like to add it into the new Masterwork mod for 40.x, as a fully optional mod: "Kazoo's Silk Eggs".

As with everyone else you're more than welcome to do as you please with this. I was playing around with silk moths my self and although they're working just like honey bees, i only wish there was a way to plant a colony of insects in a nest box, then for them to act as a nesting animal.

I'm sure the error's on my end, but I'm getting errors printed to my error log at a horrendous rate.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Any ideas why this is happening? I've done some manual merging of raws, but after half a dozen passes to ensure that the information from this mod made its way into the merged files I have no idea why it keeps spitting out these errors.

  • material_template_default matches the file kazoo provided.
  • creature_kazoo is present.
  • reaction_kazoo is present.
  • All three of the above files match the download.

(I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself, every time an idea dawns on me I check it and post the results.)
