Dryad Adventures (ISG)
« on: March 17, 2015, 03:27:32 pm »

You are a dryad. Currently you are dancing in the pond next to your tree with your two sisters. Life is good. Willows laughs as she splashes you with water, Oak soon joining in on the impromptu waterfight with much giggling and splashing ensuing.

Meanwhile

What do?
> _

[Put a > in front of commands please]

[You are a dryad! Dryads are fey creatures who are linked to certain specific trees, which they cannot stray far from. However, they do possess several interesting abilities, including the ability to talk to and command plants, teleport from one tree to another, forcing creatures into a deep sleep]

[OOC Comments: Suprisingly, the easiest thing to for me to draw in this post is the suprisingly good-looking bloodthirsty elephant]

Do we have the ability to exploit plantlife as a quick messaging system? Sort of like a semi-literal "What did you hear on the grapevine?"

>If so, use that ability to attempt to get a better read on the situation.

I'm gonna have to go with no, though you can talk with plants, and command them to entangle lumberjacks etc.

No, I will be sure to inform you if and when you become aware of their presence.

Do we have the age old blind/kill people with our clothed/naked beauty power?

I think that's Nymphs.

Pretty much all female nature spirits do that but dryads are most known for it.

I really do you think you're thinking of nymphs, which do have that ability in this game. I have never heard of dryads having something like that, though I'm not opposed to being proven wrong with some sources.

The doubley misleadingly titled Caverns and Creatures short story Nymph-O-Maniac which is actually about a dryad. I don't have access to the other two sources but I'll edit them in.

That is certainly interesting, and as I said the first I've encountered this, though nymps and dryads have always been closely related entities so bleedover is not unexpected (in fact, now that I think about it, in the original greek mythology dryads are actually just a subtype of nymphs), but I would like to note that regardless you still don't have the ability to blind people with your beauty, sorry. (Since I realized I didn't make that part clear in my earlier post, my apologies for the oversight)

Actually after doing the research I've discovered Dryads are pretty shit. They're pretty much less powerful Nymphs with the added terribleness of being unable to leave a 300 foot radius. So never mind I guess.

I'd recommend sticking around, I have some stuff planned that will hopefully be interesting.
